RE: Took13 Dec 2018 10:16
The original question surrounding grade was phrased in a manner that was suggestive of a mine reaching the end of its life. Declining grades tend to be associated with this. However, it is clear that the issue reported was one of grade control rather than declining grade (a very important difference!) and I would be very surprised given the nature of the reserve (let alone resource) at Vametco whether it is anywhere near suffering declining grades. So I would put the declining grade bit to bed. However, the question of controlling the grade appropriately IS an important one and does need to be addressed in the latest quarter. Of course, a decent production number would be a fair indication that this has indeed been addressed but more detail would be appreciated.
The contamination of the electrolyte was clearly highlighted in the Q3 BE report, namely:
"the unexpected contamination of the electrolyte that occurred during the filling stage"
