Plastic has replaced so many materials, from gardening string to well almost anything. even tea bags.
China loves the stuff, plastic rice and Melamine baby milk formulas :(
The supply of oil was always going to become a problem, yet good sustainable materials have been needlessly replaced by plastics... At least a shortage will ease plastic waste issues...

back in the 1980s studied economics oil was covered, supply said to become a problem..
Even though there was always going to be a supply issue out of town shopping parks started appearing, commuting became the norm.. Foreign travel for everyone multiple times a year..

I see the BOP was an optional extra on the hanjin CBM rig, so maybe they did'nt use one, with helium being inert, and nitrogen being fairly stable?? Not that I have a clue about this stuff..

So maybe no BOP last year, but this year the full works?
Why do they require fixed pipe rams and a VBR?

@Nas-k, have you the parker wellbore link that shows the BOP parts..?
