Like, while casing to about 400m, we see the data, we can come back and cut the casing, so we are continuing to drill deeper
We did'nt get our discovery, so why did'nt they cut the casing?

In our case they were open hole testing, so it was cased in stages until they got to the area to be tested..
The hole is then cleaned/flushed before testing..
I am just thinking about how the mud caked the bore walls that were crumbling ?

@Nas-k, Interesting, DM said international company, without any hint to being local, or based in Tanzania..
That gave me the impression they were flying a team in to inspect the rig..
Mind you this is the 3rd company suggested so far by the detectives,

The Boart LF350 mentioned earlier belonged to a Mwanza based company

@AP, I believe they would have needed the right equipment to cut the casing , I do wonder if they had it on site at the time.. I also think they would need another rig to go back later and cut the casing..

I don't recall anything being said about casing the last section down to TD..
Even though the hole was found to be washed out I guess they would have needed to remove the drilling fluid/mud to clean the hole before sending the DST down to attempt logging the hole..
If the hole is dry I would think its very possible that any drilling mud stuck to the unstable walls would dry out, shrink, and crack opening up pores in the wall..
If the hole was wet I wonder if the mud would kind of dissolve(thin, dilute), again opening up the pores..

Sure He1 had bridge plugs to allow re-entry if a discovery was made...
I have not noticed any details of how that well was left, sealed for good, or as a 1200m gas vent with a screw top...

Read an RNS where a company was waiting for cleaning fluid to remove the stuff caked to the walls, in the mean time the gas started to flow,...

@skittish, well that depends on heights of the closure across its width, and whether DM is going for a discovery or well finished for production

@skittish, DM commented on an interesting spot adjacent to Tai-1, which I assume is the new base of lake bed target..
For some reason I am under the impression its to the SW of Tai's pad, have I picked that up from you..?

If you look at the seismics sections line 13/14, & map of faults, from the presentation/meeting pre-Tai drill, and then look at the latest presentation for same images, they don't look the same..??

Now DM stated the 3 way closure was about 2-3km wide, and 5km long.. I took closure to mean the size of the trap/seal..
If so I assume thats the Karoo closure, as post Tai interview he talks about the lake bed being a bit of a unexpected surprise...Although he seem excited about both targets previously..

Anyway assuming the karoo closure is 2-3km wide along the SW line, I would be expecting stacked targets as long as the new lake bed target is above that closure, ?????
