You had Europe on the verge of approving Norde Stream 2, becoming even more dependent on a country that has been looking at trading oil/gas in an alternative to the dollar for a number of years..
Adding to that, EU countries being NATO members and buying its fuels from the country NATO was created to deter.
The US Gov must have been pulling its hair out..

@Skittish, I watched a lecture about Ukraine, Russia and the West.. Never mentioned NATO's stance on "territorial disputes" , an important part of the picture..

Interesting point about the Russian Army entering an inescapable meat grinder.. that grinder is being supported by the EU which at the moment still requires Russian fossil fuels.. Supplying fuel to NATO members that are helping to increase Russian losses? I would not be surprised if Putin stops supplies especially to those that manufacture military equipment if the war grinds on...

Not sure if Ian can be compared with DM, after all it was Ian that said "IF", while DM said we are in a leading position..

Feb interview DM mentioned working on the completion of a MOU, although that has not been included in an RNS..
But two consecutive RNS's have stated they are in advanced, and remain in advanced negotiations..whether thats with the same company is another question....may be advanced simply means they are on first name terms now ;)

Apparently TGDC is a subsidiary company of TANESCO, which is wholly owned by the government of Tanzania..
