Crude Helium is gaseous helium but gaseous helium is not necessarily crude helium ;)

BLM defines

>Crude Helium: That helium with equal to or greater than 50 percent “contained” helium which is recovered from upstream processing of natural gas to produce natural gas liquids (NGLs) or liquefied natural gas (LNG)
>Refined Helium: That helium purified to commercial Grade A gaseous helium (I believe 99.997% or greater, seen 99.996%)

One of the other articles suggests the quotes for $XXX/mcf is for commercial grade helium at 99.999%(grade A 99.996/7).
He1 proposed plant is said to produce helium refined to 99.999% which I guess is the commercial grade used for the bulk wholesale quotes we read about, $250/mcf $450/mcf....(gaseous form)

The prices KeithOz quotes seem to be the norm when supply is adequate.

@IG, The Edelgas guy was saying the limited helium available, meant there was'nt much making it to the spot market and that is pushing up prices off market..if thats the right terminology..

So with Renergen supplying 5-10%, plus Noble Helium's contribution especially if He1 strikes it lucky will mean Africa will be big suppliers

As both helium straight from the well and compressed into cylinders is gaseous, I found these definitions in BLM documentation..

H&P modeling is based on the plant producing and selling refined helium(99.999%), well thats the impression I have as they do not mention different prices for unrefined and refined helium. Although for He1 If it was unrefined then it would be 90% other gases.

These links show BLM crude prices, including the higher prices paid in 2018 which I believe were not the norm..

To 2022, the In-kind prices are at 80% discount to the BLM open-market prices, for special customers(US Gov R&D .....)

Edelgas.. are saying they are shocked to see refineries paying as much as $450/mcf in the US at the moment, normally about $250. Is that BLM standard crude at >50% helium they don't say. I guess the refineries would pay on the finished product, with different producers supplying various mixes of gases, and production costs being higher for lower concentrations of helium to be processed to commercial grades??

Found this article mentioning wholesale prices of commercial helium being as high as $450/mcf.. Commercial stated as being 99.999% purity which is He1's plant standard

@KeithOz, I guess even if $350/mcf is being paid due to shortages when(if) He1 start producing that will help normalize supply and so prices..

Maybe I am being harsh but other companies were successfully drilling helium wells and we decided to be innovative.
If you take the chance you have to take the flack if you fail..

Yet we see quoted " We are becoming recognised as a leading Well Management company in this sector".
At the moment Midak should be a little more modest...
