RE: Buses17 Nov 2024 17:03
"About 3.4 million people in England travel regularly by bus, making it the most commonly used mode of public transport."
Sounds like those working people, that catch a bus will already be doing so, they have not been waiting for Labour to save them..
More buses to meet demand is a good thing, but more services attempting to create demand is a bad thing.. especially when Gov just borrowed £70m..
There was the cycle to work scheme, and cycle paths..
There are cycle lanes near where I live, they are randomly placed, disconnected, so not used. We have one that runs from a roundabout, runs about 200m, and ends at the next roundabout. Its a purpose built dual use pavement, part way along a route to a park and ride. There is a bike park about a mile up the road from the start of the path, but no cycle path to get there.. Its just a random length of cycle path..
There is another that runs from quiet a no through housing estate about 100m to the main road and stops, its a side street, what's the point..
That is the Welsh Gov pushing out a schemes, money from UK Gov, and the local councils just ticking boxes, fitting a path wherever.. Just squandering funds
We have a new crossing coming
One end of my road there is a school, there is no crossing, the other end is practically the sticks.. guess where it is going...
Welsh Labour every time they are questioned about the NHS or other services just answer " we are spending more", if the UK Gov is going the same way the country will be broke by the next election..
Schemes maybe great ideas, but they have to be implemented with a plan, other than this is how you get to tick that box off.. And account for every penny, and show it achieved the real objectives
this attitude of if we don't spend it we lose it needs addressing.
