Wyndrum, you make an interesting point as ever. But you might you have waited a bit longer to sell as, surely, it's quite likely to spike as results approach? Maybe you've spotted a more profitable home for your £s which is understandable.
Firms – even very successful ones – do and have always changed advertising companies from time to time. I don't think you can necessarily infer that Cheryl C would just stick with something that was working 'quite well'. She seems VERY ambitious for Eve, unless it's lip service which would be quite cynical. Cheryl came up with the sloth herself didn't she, so maybe they didn't have an agency that was talking the lead enough before? She will be busier now and can't do everything on the marketing side / needs to delegate to an agency she admires. (I still can't find a name for the person who is now Chief Marketing Officer – her old role – so maybe it's going to be a one-woman show?) Then there's the 'new broom' phenomenon; I know she's not exactly a 'new broom' but she is new CEO.
- 'wasn't the BOD always "running the business to improve profitability and conserve cash"? or were they previously doing the opposite?'. Well, the people before James Sturrock arrived made their famous / infamous 'strategic miss steps' and lost a small fortune, finally getting Eve BOD to let them go. They might have been trying to improve profitability but certainly weren't making any effort to to conserve cash.
Since James Sturrock arrived they've done almost everything they said they'd do. And James Sturrock hired Cheryl C (safe and exciting pair of hands?) so his job was done to a certain extent? Was James Sturrock hired by Tapi Carpets because he failed miserably at Eve? Seem unlikely.. He is still on the BOD and is a big holder / options etc. as well as giving advice.
Good luck and I trust you'll find time to visit and give us your take anyway!
