CDL - tarzan, you disappoint me! Thought you were running a charity with me as beneficiary having told you all about CER and one or two other shares that have prospered! With Shell results disappointing, it may well be that markets and oils in paryicular, will slip back somewhat ..... Confess I cannot get enthusiastic about any new investment at the moment as the markets seem to be just drifting rather aimlessly.

RNK - Dinky - The Deluxe Film deal was actually completed on 30th Jan. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part, but it is certainly no impossible that the predators have strated to sniff around once more ...... Sure hope so!

CDL - not sure what to make of that news ..... For sure 14.31% is a very hefty holding, but it could quite easily be just a strategic holding rather than predatory. It is also worth noting that DB seem to have bought these aditional 7 million over just a couple of days last week ..... That would, of course, have had a considerable impact on the share price at the time ...... Having pondered, I have to the conclusion that today may not be the right time to buy, though if you are already a holder, then that is slightly different.

DGM - not in this stock and have no wish to be ..... The two old adages that come to mind are that profit warnings never come singly (DGM have issued 2 so far I think) and that bad figures take longer to add up than good ....... That 3-legged nag at Sandown may run better than this!

CHP - goldline - Wrong! MMs saw that I had bought a few the other day so knew it was time to get out the red pencil ... lol!

ELP - No apology required Brantley ...... I made a nice profit, and if I bought back too early, well who really cares? Not the bank manager for sure!

GGEA (aka GOOG on main USA board) - close of biz in USA tonight was $432.66, so if you can buy at $72 discount ...... Need I say more???

CHP - fletch - I haven't seen FT but from what you imply, the note is pretty positive. That being so, why would you take your money of a winning horse to move it (presumably) to CEY and GMC ..... or have I misread you?

CHP - Just for the record, average daily trades are 2.5 million ..... 41 million not only means lots of interest but also lots of hot money trhat can go cold even quicker.

CHP - I also have some of these .... but don't forget that there is only a saving in CT if company actually makes a profit!

CHP - Well bigted, there is an old market adage that talks of stocks going up like a rocket and down like a stick ..... I hope it is not borne out! - lol!

KCOM - hamster - In a word NO..... It looks as though the Hull local press or dignitaries were somewhat premature to say that a deal was just about done some time before Christmas. That said, KCOM still remaiins a very tasty morsel for the predators, and it is more than likely that a deal will be done some time this year ..... Quite when is now anyone's guess.

CHP - which sunday papers? ..... any chance of a synopsis of what was actually written?

BFC - May I strongly recommend that all investors in aleterantive energy shares read this well written article - page 12 Business section ...... It neither recommend nor denigrates the various companies mentioned, but merely points out the potentials and potential downfalls .... With regard to BFC, it observes that in the last 18 months it has moved from 68 to 311 then down to 80 and now back up to 140 ..... Plenty of volatility to allow handsome profits in either direction, always assuming you call it right!!

OILBARREL - thanks .... quite right .... very well constructed and thought-through articles.

BES - I don't have this week's IC to hand, but from memory Blavod was mentioned with just a "fair value" or similar comment attaching ..... Hence, those in for a quick buck, have bucked out!

PXC - GedW - Though my braille edition must be different from the norm, but now see that you were looking at last week's IC ..... Unless my library has it (in braille!), I shall just take your word for it, though I fully concur. Somewhere along the line I had already observed that now that BT was precluded from buying terrestial companies (e.g. KCOM), the likes of Pipex were an obvious target. If not BT, then almost certainly it will be another, even if not tomorrow.
