BFC+DOO - having been totally scathing in the past, in particular about BFC, I may be about to switch horses! There has certainly been a lot of recent press about biofuels and BFC announced that they will shortly start production (or was it more than that?). There may be a bit of hype in the current prices, so I shall wait for a little calmness before investing the odd shekel.

CER - best guess is that CER will now concentrate its efforts in Khazakstan, which of course will include their major holding in EKA. Even so, there is bound to be a time lag while the (excellent) management get its brain back in gear and works out their best strategy and way forward .... Hence the action i took. If there is significant fallout, down to say 145, then I may well buy more.

ETL - GedW - am amazed you still show ETL as a buy ..... I think it is a very juicy stock to short .... except it is currently impossible to borow tthe stock to do so; perhaps a lot of others have the rsame idea!

CER - while I don't think this latest news is remotely disastrous for the company, my guess is that dealings will go vefry quiet until such a time as CER decide how and where to put this extra cash to work ..... As the shareholders have had a pretty rough ride over the last months, my guess is that the price will actually fall further ..... With that in mind, I have taken a profit on 50% of my holding and will keep the balance.

ETL - GedW - my guess, and probably yours, is that your #2 is easily the most likely course of events, which one wonder why so many piled in on the announcement.

ETL - GedW - SPQR = senatus populusque Romanus ..... If that is what you meant, or perhaps take your profits when you see them and run, makes ETL pretty difficult to determine how to trade .... more like a straight roulette bet on red or black

CER - while awaiting some informed feedback, sp has started to recover quite sharply. Whereas it reacted 23p on the announcement, it has now recovered more than half of that ..... and I don't beleive that can be bear covering either.

BUR - I was originally in at 922 and have taken profits n got back in lower a couple of times. Though I was a bit singed yesterday, I am more than happy to hold as BUR is clearly a "serious" company with very good funding already in place. Though others may have hyped the reserves of the site in question, BUR was clearly a bit more conservative and, as they stated, their own declared reserves will scarcely be affected.

ELP - ragnarok - Clearly you cannot be bothered to read about BUR, and I cannot be bothered to spoonfeed you. However, and in a nutshell, no one ever went bankruot taking a profit and it is a truism that the arrival is often far less exciting than the anticipation. If ELP's adventure truly turns up trumps, then bully for you, but if the results disappoint just the slightest, then you know where your money will go.

ERX .... Not that I know anything about this company, but much more likely to be a consolidation than a split ..... Thus 100k of shares now = 10k

ETL - your logic is of course impeccable, and more power to your elbow that I am sure you have tucked away a tidy profit already. Hoever, the great unknown is what will be the final deal struck and how badly shafted will the shareholders? In the last part, the answer will be well and truly, but what will be the effect on the current sp? ..... I am afraid my single cell cannot get to grips with that at all, so to date I have done nowt.

GOLD - Finished in the middle of the day's trading range at $571. The trend is still heavily upwards, but on the basis that corrections always come along the way, I shall hope to see a tumble back to say $550 or even a bit lower ..... at which point I intend to get back in.

MARKETS - a very soggy finish to the day with FTSE ending at 5758, below that arguably important support/resistance of 5770, and DOW heading rapidly south having het again failed to reach let alone breach the psychological 11000 mark. For myself, I have not taken any index position though i took some money off the tabkle late in the day ..... On balance, I still think the market is overdue a healthy correction ..... which could see some of these very small cap stocks hit disproportionately hard.

ELP - By all means jump in and try to make a fast buck, but make sure you get out before the announcement ..... Why, you may ask? ...... Well as a salutary tale, please read the full details on BUR today ...... Despite the fact that the dry well reported only affects BUR negligibly (too complex to explain, so read!), the shares originally dropped about 10%, though they have now recovered a bit ...... BUR is a very successful and well-funded company ..... If ELP turn up with anything less that "Eldorado", what will be the value of THAT stock?

TMC - that 7p (5+%) spread is pretty scary and looks to be accurate.

TMC - 4x usual daily volume already ...... Debbie you could be right about the day traders, but not sure if it is worth jumping in at this level, even if it is possible that the previous highs COULD be tested.
