There are some basic realities that folks need to understand.
It's a global market, no amount of home grown fuel will lead to a significant drop in the cost of O&G for domestic consumers.
ANGS will not sell any output to the UK domestic market at a discount to the market rate, they are a business not a charity.
It is the Tory government who are to blame for domestic fuel bills, a combination of limited investment and stupid policies. They prefer to reward the rich mates in the banking sector with huge profits and then burden the rest of us through increases in taxation year on year.
If you want to see an example of how to create a net export on energy, then look at Norway. They export the bulk of their gas at a massive profit. Much of their electricity is satisfied through renewables. Their domestic energy bills are a fraction of ours.
But here in the UK, the Tories do too little to create a robust energy sector.
Tories, gave EDF the contract to build Hinckley Point C, which is over budget and will be late. They did not want a Chinese company involved with the construction, but were happy to see a Chinese bank provide funding on that project. This was post Brexit. So why did the Tories give the French the contract and the Chinese a massive financial stake? It is because they don't give two hoots about Joe Public and energy costs.
Where's the proper investment, where's the British firms, why is the Minister for Brexit not delivering on what the public voted for?
ANGS cannot do a thing to stop the rot of a failed Tory government.
But they can switch SFB back on, drill a side track (or two) and deliver some gas to the market. Will they see enough production to cover the bills, or will Lucan be left red faced and needing to find employment eslewhere, that is the question for ANGS PI's.
