RE: My EQTEC holding14 May 2021 15:08
I have only been on this board since the end of 2020, and not really seen any ramping here, certainly the not relentless rocket cr*p seen on many other boards.
Perhaps some over-enthusiastic, or misguided (imo) optimism at times, and certainly frustration at the SP move vs news flow, as is often the case, but nothing untoward, or underhand, positive, or negative here generally, imo.
For me, the rise was always too high and too quick, both here and in the sector generally, and was always likely to drop back without concrete news with contracts and tangible cash generation. I just did not expect it to fall this far below the 1.90 to 2.00 level where I had been adding this year.
I am done adding here, despite the current SP level as this is at the top end of my preferred holding weight.
News is expected, especially with what is known to be in the pipeline, or under consdieration, but I also don't think there was any expectation of daily news. Hope that Wood Group news may drop any day since the turn of the year perhaps, but not daily news.
EQT, for me, is in that phase where hype, expectation and sentiment are no longer the main SP drivers in the short term. Delivery, 'meat on the bones' is what will drive the SP now, in the main, and even large contracts may not see this reach the previous highs seen, due to the often irrational nature of AIM. Longer term though, I can definitely see it higher
Whar is EQT worth?
Difficult to say. Too many unknowns currently, and comparisons vs peers does not help other than suggest a possible value within an unknown timeframe.
Agree it is a hold, and it remains a long term hold for me.
Nothing not to like for me here as things stand, just need patience, and happy to sit tight, await news and assess accordingly.
Talking change, discussiing how it can be done, etc is all good, but. implementing those changes always takes time, both for the work neeeded to do so, and the change in attitudes, thinking and infrastructure needed to push these changes through. Government policy too.
We have the proven technology. I don't believe anyone has stolen a march, just that the uptake in making the switch will not perhaps be as quick as many would like.
