Agreed, this is worth a fair bit more. But from today's movements I cashed out around 60% of the shares I bought this morning for my first capital gain of 2025/26 and a 5.6% return for about 150 minutes at risk.

Do you only follow news sources approved by DJT? Everyone should know by now that the tariff rates quoted by Trump were derived from a very crude formula based on trade volumes and nothing to do with tariff rates.

Opportunities like these don't come along that often so nothing for it but to buy back for an effective dividend of 73p per share!!

Well I picked up the shares I wanted for my ISA but I've kept my non-ISA shares for now. Not selling at these prices and will probably be buying again if it dips below 110p.

Too cheap to resist. If you know the price is cheap, it's best to take the opportunity when it arises rather than wait for a possibly lower price. There are always cheaper prices or better opportunities elsewhere so best to take a good deal when offered.

There will be a lot of dividend stocks in the ISA wall of cash and the UK insurers are not very exposed to the US but continue to pay high dividends in a world where interest rates are likely to reduce faster and further than they did a week ago.

Not pretending that there isn't a risk but the likes of LGEN are well insulated.

As unreliable as a deal might be with the US, I think it would be worth the effort. I certainly don't want to have to subsidise the UK car manufacturing industry while the current tariffs are in place. But it is difficult to see how easy that will be given there are bigger deals for the US to make and the pecking order will be driven more by US business interests than those of Jaguar. Tbh, we have more to gain from a new trade deal with the EU.

As for the 30's depression being caused by a stock market crash, that's simply untrue - for which you can draw empirical evidence from more recent crashes.

Very difficult to discuss these sorts of matters when the hardliners on the MAGA side won't agree of basic facts. And let's also be clear, trade is a much more fundamental element of the economy in the 2020's than it was in the 1920's.

It is a decent defensive stock and an excellent one to have owned before Thursday.

Suspect the drop in oil price is a likely down to expectations of reduced demand and increased production in OPEC. Hard to imagine the Saudi's won't cut back if global demand is indeed going to reduce. Of course, that's my spin - SQZ has plenty of value without the need for more expensive oil and gas.

I think the easiest explanation here is what they call "flight to quality" which happens when investors are clueless about which companies are under most risk. Small-caps can get hit simply for being more volatile.

Try to imagine what impact increasing tariffs would have on BGO and then judge for yourself if it is particularly exposed to the rising risks we are seeing. I personally can't see the danger here and will be considering BGO for transferring to my 2025/26 ISA in expectation of a solid return for the next year.

Phoenix Life Limited is the main life insurance subsidiary of the Phoenix Group and all of the UK life subsidiaries will eventually be transferred into this company. It is the only UK business that is writing new business.

If there was a single transfer to Aberdeen, this is likely to be from an agreement made back in 2021 to split the business acquired from Standard Life Aberdeen in which Phoenix kept the Master Trust business (that's company pensions) and agreed that Aberdeen would get the tax wrapper business (eg SIPPs)

JC wasn't assassinated for his protectionist/expansive policies - a combination that makes more sense from a late 19th century view than a 35BC one - but for his threat to the republic. He was, very clearly, a despot and was rewarded fairly in a world where laws were not as reliable as they are in the modern world.

Now that we have those laws, Donald Trump should be held accountable for them. And one area they should be looking at is the money they will be making from buying up cheap assets after selling ahead of his inauguration.

For the normal PI, best always to keep some cash to one side and hold on in these turbulent times.

Thanks. It arrived for me this even so all good. I won't rush to make the offer now but expect I will offer 50-100% of my shares for tender and will almost certainly use the money to buy them all back at the soonest practicable date after the tender closes.

As Samson says, the cash from the tender offer should land within the ISA so will be available for reinvestment within the tax wrapper.
