So where are the "details of the Capital Reduction" that they mention in the RNS. In other words, how is the Share Premium Account being reduced exactly.

I'd like to understand how the revenue and margin can increase but the EBITDA and PBT are showing large reductions. What are the additional costs hitting the profits?

I am not a fan of artificial rental price controls for the simple reasons stated that it reduces supply. I'm also not really a fan of social housing since this too creates an artificial supply side impact of rents, albeit one that apportions subsidised proporties in a queuing system. But cutting supply side constraints like planning rules is the way to go as it addresses the fundamental problem that there aren't enough houses. As for 1970's comparison, you might also want to compare the average household size.

Not that this will have any real impact on LGEN - but then this board seems to have evolved into one covering wider political issues.

Both RNS's appear to raise more questions than they answer. For SALT, I'd be intrigued to know what sort of research the company has done into the market for a fibre/salt ingredient as the two components don't appear to me to have any natural fit.

A couple of things to note from the update so will be interesting to see how the market reacts. Profits towards bottom of target range - I'll be so bold as to suggest that this is already priced in so the news might even be viewed positively.

Change to distribution policy to distribute half of the 80% planned distribution as dividend and spend the rest of buyback or special dividend. At face value this looks like a smart move and addresses one of the key risks frequently cited around sustainability of dividend. With shares at 30% or so below last year's peak, this feels like a good use of funds right now but will the tilt away from dividend affect some institutional holdings who might not like the drop in dividend? We shall soon find out.

There's a healthy uptick in the number of shares bought back last week; over twice the rate of previous purchases.

Having final broken through £2, this could be one to watch over the coming week. I should have been a little more confident back in March when it was in the 150's - though in my defence I think most things were cheap then.

I wasn't aware of any widespread investment in private housing by pension funds. It's still largely privately owned and even the more recent increase in build to rent development is coming more from international money.

The AI confirmed what I thought that there was nothing new in the trading update RNS so hardly qualifying as an update. It was largely a waste of my time reading it and their time drafting it.

This is purely about the update itself. I'm very confident about the prospects for the company.

Does the momentum carry over to Monday or are we now due a short period of consolidation before the next move? I suspect the latter to be more likely but if we are to see a repeat of what we saw two weeks ago then it will rise before it dips back to these levels.

I believe they have already sounded out some shareholders on which they prefer and got the response in favour of the buybacks so it's not particularly important what individual shareholders want.

I thought the court order authorises or allows the capital reduction which would then allow JLP to distribute funds in some form to be determined - though it seems most likely to be a share buyback.

All good? I couldn't find any numbers, just words. And words can have more than one meaning.

I would argue that, all things being equal, a 10% buyback would increase the share price by 11.1% because the EPS increases as the number of shares reduces. For comparison it is much the same effect as if the company had invested that money internally to increase earnings by 11.1%.
