I view "dividend" stocks quite differently to many others. More like a high interest bank account that I can put money into when interest rates (ie Dividend yield) is high, and take money out when it is lower. While LGEN has definitely lagged the other two companies, it means that it is now paying a higher dividend yield than both which means it is my prefer investment of the three of them right now. In relative terms, it is underpriced as it should be paying a lower dividend yield than the others (maybe 25bps lower than PHNX).
If Goldman are saying the dividend needs to be slashed to 4%, they have an analyst who doesn't seem to understand life insurance
