Complete control means nothing without mining and export licenses. Those who sneered at Bernard posting about opening new roads might be eating their words if they could see what goes on behind the scenes in the coming months/couple of years. It is the Mali government that has the real ultimate control.

I think it is very clear who is "behind the wheel" and it is likely to be the reason that some management wonk at Hainan got his feathers ruffled and demanded ongoing clarification that Hainan has "ultimate control". There are plenty on here who project he most negative of intentions onto Hainan, but it seems from what we can see of operations that they have enough confidence in what the Kodal guys are doing to let them get on with it. And we have no idea how the dynamics with the Mali government representatives plays out.

Hainan wanting communications to state overall control is most likely for home consumption "up the management chain". There is no other rational reason. Public chest beating doesn't achieve anything on the ground.

The articles of KMUK should outline which decisions can be made with a simple majority and which require a special resolution and therefore Kodal's agreement, but restructuring the company or changing the articles themselves would always fall into the latter category. In any case, the minority shareholder is protected under UK law against unfair prejudice, which includes profits being unfairly diverted or withheld.

Cholseyn, what you are doing is not reading, it's projection. Of your own fear, anxiety, whatever. With 51% of KMUK it is possible to imagine Hainan doing some nefarious things to the company, to dry up the income and squeeze out Kodal if that is what they wanted to do. But The Mali government owns 35% of the operation and it is hard to imagine how Hainan could screw over Kodal without also screwing over the MG. And that would be a catastrophically stupid thing to do.

There was a big clue on Monday. The attack began around 6am Saturday and by Monday government forces had at best restored control but at least assured that the attempted coup had failed. It also gave investors a chance to reflect rather than just react. Even so, the market reaction on Monday was pretty muted. I think this is a good indication that Mali instability is largely priced in and was already pinning the SP down. Movement towards opening negotiations with the Tuaregs would be a great step in the right direction and could get things moving. Leave out the numbers if you like but give us a precis of the kind of communication you would like to see. Do you want/expect it to boost the SP for the long term, or just pump it up for long enough for you to get out?

Mac, there are a number of reasons why trolls gravitate to boards like this. The one thing they all have in common is that they WANT you to react and respond. As much as possible. You might be in the right, but it is they who "win the game" for as long as you play the game... THEIR game

But the board has to work around a plan to be running this mine as a profitable enterprise for the next 15-20 years if possible, and not accede to your OR MY wishes to make short term gains for punters. Would I like to walk away from Kodal having sold out at +1p? Yes I would. Do I think it appropriate to blame the board or CEO for it not happening? No, I don't! That's the difference.
