A JORC compliant estimate is what potential investors are looking for. Hainan don't need investors and may need only to justify the project internally. Kodal are hoping to not need any further investment but may need a top-up and certainly need all the valuation leverage they can muster if they want a good offer or want to rebuff a low-ball offer. So yes, the two companies are in very different positions in terms of impetus and the need for JORC.

Elc - in the latest interview Bernard said that they are working on the FS including ongoing drilling. Getting a JORC compliant resource estimate takes time, effort and money. Why do it now if they may want to include every available tonne for the phase 2 justification?

Badomen - yes, if Kodal are short of the funds they need, Hainan could make such an offer. But Kodal is also free to look elsewhere. As long as their income is sufficient, loans will be available. We should all be hoping that Lithium prices hold/increase and any shortfall is small or non-existent.

We know that Bernard and his team like to do things properly. That has been their approach so far and is what we can expect going forward. It clearly frustrates some here. However, the "challenge" that Badomen highlights is a real one and favours the team's meticulous approach. Whether or not you believe Hainan has the objective or capability to screw Kodal over, it serves Kodal best to have as much cash in the bank as possible when the stage 2 decision comes around. The smaller the shortfall, the easier it will be to match the funding required without dilution. So undue haste may not be our friend here! Be careful what you wish for.

The "traders" amongst us are confused by the SP performance. Kodal will have plenty of options to cover their part of the capital invest in phase 2 with a mine in full operation and lithium in growing demand.

Sorry Badomen - who are you trying to convince? "Kod can't afford..." - based on what? That's just speculative horsesh*t. Running a new mining operation up to full long-term capacity is always going to involve some teething issues. Why should Kodal be at any risk from Hainan? The lithium mining licence sits with KMUK and literally millions of dollars are pouring into the business. Why are you so worried?

I'm past caring. If anyone is petrified by a few teething problems they are invested in the wrong sector. If they are swayed by the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the notorious trolls of this parish, they shouldn't be invested in anything other than a savings account.

Elcobbledore (can we call you "elc" - the full moniker is a handful to type?!) - I think it's clear from the reiteration about the resource estimate that they're being very careful about not breaching reporting rules. Costs are always more difficult to report on than outputs, grades, etc. and revenue/profits even more so. There are often significant delays in fully realising costs and the complex structure of the controlling companies will make compliant reporting a non-trivial task. I think we will see only the more easily verifiable numbers until financial reports are released.
