Spread betters run their own book. You'd never know how much they would buy or already have to hedge against the bet. A load of spread betters may have sold off and a large bet comes in and they may already have eough for their hedge.

So....no you wouldn't see it like that

The other alternative is that they keep trying to close out using the auctions. They are then off book transactions, that don't affect price. But someone still has to keep selling into it to keep the price within their range

I reckon not, or they are closing out extremely slowly. They were convinced a placing would be at 20p to buy back and then at 80p to buy back. Neither happened....but I reckon they dumb enough to think they are still right
