RE: Normal day BUT an unexplained increase12 Aug 2021 18:54
this is all true. But if the the Market Makers - which in some cases are Brokers also (IG, for example) get the chance of a big order at a lower price, there is nothing stopping them adjusting to fit. They can even take extra for a short term long position and thats allowed.
They are supposed to run an orderly market and they dont. Have a look at the Avacta Prints, for example, from today. They woul just lop big chunks off the pricing and, low and behold, delayed orders filled at the end of the day. Avacta is a good example as there are a lot of nervy investors at the minute - for whatever reason.
At the end of the day, if they can get the spread on a few million shares they will flex to do it - its like a business giving discount - pull the price, people panic sell and they fill the order. However, its different in that there are many thousands of customers seeing it happen.
You have to accept it or just go and do something more safe with your money...its how it is.
