Greygeorge, do you get some satisfaction out of others losses because you resent them not following your 'advice' ? Everyone makes mistakes, even large ones, in investing, and the larger investors make the largest mistakes, but as you know it's the Overall result that counts. It's all a risk. Look at the state of the UK, how do you think the investment in Britain has done in the last century, haven't many countries of the Empire with all their assets flown the nest, isn't the country now being 'invaded' by immigrants, isn't crime at an increased level especially knife crime, isn't dangerous driving at a high level, isn't poverty well up ? Apologies if I've missed a few points and sorry for diverting, but I'm confident you understand my perspective !!

Foxykiwi, the US policians are just being politicians. The Shorters have latched on to this share as one that has low volumes and vulnerable

sentiment. They cam drive the price down like today by 9% until buyers eventually appear, the Shorters take their profit and then wait for another day. It's a test of confidence in your investment and if confident then the lower price is only a paper loss. I'm Holding because I won't be bullied into selling by the Shorting brigade and without any tangible reason to sell.

So Plutus1, "No one is interested in investing in the LSE anymore". How about companies like SHEL, HSBA, ULVR, BP., GLEN, etc.. Why do they bother listing on the LSE therefore ? The way you explain the Shorting problem, and doesn't sound like Rocket Science to me, so why doesn't the FCA simply ban Shorting on the basis that the argument usually given to allow Shorting is that it provides for a healthier more active Market and that does not apply here for DARK ? Indeed, couldn't specific shares be banned from Shorting if a blanket ban would be too much ?!!

Notrex, they can have my shares for over £20 !! Missed the roller coaster earlier as not going to waste as much time on this as before now. There are obvious risks here but this scenario is very evidently screaming that short selling needs better controls, eg reduce the amounts of shares that shorters can borrow or ban it altogether.

With the utmost respect driftking27 I respect the views of Peel Hunt Investment bank more than you who disagree with you. SSE is one of their top picks for their 2024 growth-focused list !! They probably take a longer time period view than you are soing and they have SSE on their Growth focused list. I'm quite aware of the Dividend cut, in SSE's case this is the right strategy to reduce its debt.
