Hi yes am still a LTH. Check in on the bb from time to time but just have little free time these days.
Hope you are keeping well :)
Am sorry to hear you have had experiences that have left you with that view of MMR. The number of children who die from having measles worldwide is truly shocking and rarely publicised. I guess we all have to decide for ourselves. But I think those who are health influencers have a duty to ensure that what they saying is based on a sound understanding of good quality research.
The WHI trial in 2002 has a lot to answer for when it comes to HRT and the impact on women who had to suddenly stop it can’t be underestimated.
Speaking of Long Covid: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2023-09-27/long-covid-is-real-now-the-evidence-is-piling-up?utm_source=website&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=linkedin&leadSource=uverify%20wall
Have a nice weekend all!
Was a mum of a newborn during the MMR scare and was very difficult to know what to do for the best except read as much as I could from reliable sources. I went for single vaccinations and later my son did have an MMR. I have since done extensive vaccination training as part of an healthcare role and am pro vaccination from a risk benefit perspective.
Those of us who are not scientists have to place our trust in someone.
For many, myself included our understanding of research, epidemiological studies and statistical analysis does not allow us to make a scientific judgement. I do not believe that the JVCI, WHO, FDA, EMA or the UK HSA would wish harm to their populations for one minute and I rarely hear as much talk about the impact of having COVID-19 on the body. In my current role I have without doubt spoken to many suffering the long term effects of having this virus!
I think the article below is balanced particularly the comments from Tom Frieden: https://www.bmj.com/content/379/bmj.o2527
Think reaction to last weeks RNS is mainly because investors don’t understand what the future could hold here.
As an example I recently attended a presentation by a renowned lung cancer specialist. They talked about immunotherapy treatments for lung cancer that may only extend life for a few years for many ie stabilise disease. They reported that these treatments can have significant side effects but that this is their best shot and always a risk benefit decision.
For someone at this stage this can mean the precious gift of time and that is priceless!
You have to remember that for these patients their immune system will already have been through so much.
So at this stage of research for Modi-1 I for one am very encouraged particularly as the treatment is well tolerated!
It may be that over time as the trials progress that the outcomes improve.
Hope all fellow posters I have chatted to in the past are well. Follow the chat when I can and still a strong hold here for me.
I believe Scancell are right to focus their resources on their strongest research and of course many many people are affected by cancer.
I hope they don’t give up on their Covid vaccine if it shows any promise. Sadly Covid is not going away and vaccines may still be our way out of this.

Spotted this today. ‘ First COVID-19 DNA vaccine approved, others in hot pursuit.’ Scancell gets a mention.
Apologies if already shared :)

Agree that we need to accept and plan for Covid being part of everyday life for the foreseeable. I also watched Kate Bingham’s Romanes lecture. I was dismayed that our Gov cancelled the Valneva contract and disappointed about what she said about Whitehall.
Surely we need to future proof ourselves with a separate Covid service that includes long term options for effective vaccines with a permanent vaccine task force. Also I think permanent vaccination teams and Covid hospital wards are needed, so that healthcare of other ongoing conditions can be effetely managed.
I think the time for the stop start approach is over.
We also so need to unite like never before and support vaccination around the world.
Will just keep hoping…
Likely good news for when Scancell are ready to test Covidity in the UK!

Delighted with today’s news. Will be very interested to see if Lindy does a Proactive interview today!Having met her I have every faith in her ability to be CEO.I think the timing was well thought out...being the evening before today’s RNS...Looking forward to the next few months here.
Sentiment within an AIM share like this one is massive from what I have seen. The SP fluctuates based on this and often with no hard evidence.
Please don’t take this personally but I do believe that everyone has a motivation to post dependent on whether they are holding, trading or about to invest, myself included. How many posts are self fulfilling prophesies? I’d hazard a few.
I’m a LTH who rarely trades simply due to the hours I work and don’t get be started on placing fill or kill orders.
I read this bb mainly to gain info from all the great posters who are willing to share it along with other research I do.
So if I am teasing posters about their motivation for posting it’s not personal just an observation. Ultimately I will be holding for some time yet as am here for the long game, and yes it’s been long already :))) lol
I just think the culture of Scancell is obviously science based which is why we are where we are with shares in this amazing IP but no significant pharma tie up yet.
In my view Scancell have essentially travelled where the science has taken them, and broadened their pipeline significantly on the journey but now are on the cusp of realising their potential.
I think Redmile’s involvement is likely to be transformational and that the big que is simply when and how much longer?
Still believe the 20s are ridiculously cheap for the pipeline they have, especially when compared to other some biotechs I have previously invested in!
‘ Interim Chair of the Vaccines Taskforce Clive Dix said: “We have secured a number of safe and effective vaccines for the UK, but it is essential that we continue to develop new vaccines and treatments for Covid-19.‘

It seems a no brainier to me to be very confident that Scancell’s unique DNA COVID vaccine approach will get the support needed to take it forward.
My rationale for this is multifactoral but this quote from the UK’s vaccine task force year end report sums it up nicely,
‘So if the UK is to be a global centre of excellence for the next generation of vaccines, then the UK needs to champion its capabilities. Innovators, investors, funders, biotechs, NGOs and the strategic partners..’
Add to that the assertiveness this task force has demonstrated to date and Scancell’s IP, as long as the early stage clinical trials evidence significant results and a good safety profile the rest will be history.

Thanks for that RayPointer. This was what I was asking in my original post.
Ok so I see why you have made that link Knowlesi.
I always appreciated the vaccine was based on SC1B1 technology BUT without evidencing their protein targeting is effective pre any human clinical trials it means nothing so my point remains relevant in my view.
Also on reflection, in fairness they do tend to call the animal data, ‘pre-clinical studies,’ as opposed to stage l/ll so the comments made by Dr O’Bryan-Tear could interpreted in different ways. I guess the week ahead will evidence all of this.
Ultimately am optimistic of the development of an excellent life saving 2nd generation COVID vaccine- and a significant sp rise next week :)
GLA
Ivyspivey respectfully I disagree
I’ve followed Scancell for 8 years. They have historically been publicity shy.
I doubt very much they’d be putting themselves in the public eye like this or planning human trials if they didn’t have some good scientific data.
There my not be an RNS as I suggested about this data but I certainly think it’s within the realms of possibility.
Hi Knowlesi thanks for trying to clarify but I didn’t don’t mention clinical trials in my post and I know the human trials haven’t started. I have taken a quote directly from Dr O’Bryan-Tear. My thoughts are that he is referring to animal data, it wouldn’t make
any sense for him to be discussing SC1B1 because they need to have evidence that their target
proteins are hitting the mark. This is my view anyway based on what I know :)
Morning :)
Great to read all the positive news this weekend..I still have Prof Lindy Durrant’s autograph tucked away in a drawer!
So a quick que.
I have read this quote a few times, ‘There is no reason why, if we find a partner, we could not be able to get the vaccine as fast as the others did. Given this and the positive results from the phase I / II studies, his vaccine could be developed within a year, “said Dr. O’Bryan-Tear.’
What struck me is Dr O’Bryan-Tear’s comments about results of the phase l/ll studies!
To my knowledge the detail of these hasn’t been released to us yet. So am wondering if we will get an RNS around this tomorrow and that is why we have this publicity drive? I am also surmising that the results will be very good.
Here’s to some very blue days ahead :)
Quote taken from-https://www.worldin.news/11858/2021/02/when-a-universal-vaccine-could-work-against-all-coronavirus-variants-what-researchers-say-freedom.html
Think the the Pfizer news is really positive however for the human race however from my point of view it doesn’t mean Scancell is less likely to develop a game changing COVID-19 vaccine.
If anything it may make it more likely because another pharma has demonstrated it’s possible.
Also we need to await safety data and there are the cold significant chain issues (storing millions of vaccines at -70 is no mean feat) to get around, plus to provide the worlds population with a vaccine we will likely need more than one and possibly improved versions.
Long way to go yet IMHO :)
