I was having to listen to the pre-TH Q&A on the way to work and missed most of the bit about the aquifer except I believe I heard we are now looking at second half of year to resume decline. I still wonder if this is a bit of a cover for the period of negotiation. The bit I did like was when SD pointed out that not only do they have the advantage of last bid, but that in itself deters other bidders from spending too many resources on assessing everything if they are likely to be outdone. Be interested to hear from people at the TH. Back to work for me...

Even if someone else did come in it would hardly be a disaster. We still have our 30% and it either gets bought out for an eye watering amount or we go mining in a new JV. This assertion that we aren't up to it anyway is ridiculous given the board, but I'm just pointing out that there's no bad scenario here with any outcome - just a delay.

So aqua, the other buyers will know more than the buyer in pole position right? You really thought that through didn't you?

This is exactly why experienced heads were cautioning against reading too much into the TH and to SD's visit today. Who knows, there may be stronger hints to come but the overexpectation regarding RNS's this morning was always setting up both disappointment and inroads for who bait either for personal gain be it monetary or just for kicks. Ignore.

What I am hoping for is greater clarity on the dewatering and some understanding about 'water management'. Now there might be reasons for this rather vague wording. SD could know the issue is largely resolved but they don't want potential bidders to assume the hard work is done. Alternatively it may be the issue is more problematic (please don't read into that that I mean insurmountable as I don't think that for one second). If SD continues to hold his cards close to his chest and there aren't many answers then I suspect it is about seeing off competitors. All that said I personally hope there isn't too much delay to both the acquisition or to resumption of the decline. I can see why it might make sense to only declare the latter once the deal is over the line. If things turn out more protracted I can only assume that Newmont think they will realise more value with the movement on gold even if Telfer is slowing to a trickle. I believe all long term holders will win big and in hindsight it would have been great to have invested elsewhere and be buying in about now. I'm certainly holding but news needs to come soon within weeks. I'm hoping Newmont will regard an easy sell to people who know the project inside out as preferable to a protracted due diligence process by others as there is no guarantee they will get a better deal. Nervy times but please ignore those who constantly want SD to say more. We are at the most delicate of stages and the risks of saying too much are likely far greater than that of saying too little

I'm pretty sanguine atm and would just caution people to be realistic about timeliness. That does not exclude the possibility that a deal has been done, but as bandit said it could take months. Off the back of high expectation can come disappoint andtgat us exactly what some want to seize on that kind of scenario. It will pay out in our favour I believe whether today, tomorrow or 3 months time. What would be a very positive sign is that the decline is resuming through the lower aquifer. Newmont's declaration to invest need not necessarily halt work. I don't mind a few weeks or months sorting out a deal, I just don't want an unhealthy pause in the digging

As someone that currently holds Avacta as my second biggest share holding by value I can claim to be feeling pretty bruised right now! However, it's simply forced me to push my short term plans further down the road. Disappointing yes but I'm surprisingly chilled atm. In this share I believe the rewards are actually likely to be greater than my original preferred route to productivity in a JV, but now it is as it is I'm just having to rethink to a greater upside but with a longer time frame. My niggle is whether other players are given the opportunity to haggle the price of Hav and Telfer up. If that happens to a very significant extent then I would prefer our stake in Hav is bought out. Otherwise I'm up for us going it alone with our current backers.

I'm invested in Solgold as well but the comparisons are laughable in reality. We are in touching distance of the ore body and will be producing by early 2025. Solgold is a punt for me but whilst I would like to know my break even price with GGP will finally be held and massively surpassed (after several false dawns) the only cautionary niggle I have is on timescales and unanticipated cost pressures. The former should be resolved very soon and I'm hoping SD will demonstrate over the coming weeks that he's covered all bases on the latter

Remember too fellow investors that GGP will make more headline news going forward. Word will get out untarnished by "what if's" in just a few short months. Then it is all about value and credentials. We need to get the right deal but realistically whilst I'm in the camp that thinks this should go amicably, we simply have to call bluff on Telfer if it doesn't. Who would buy it if we walk off with Hav saying it is cheaper and with less liability to build out own plant? The planets are aligned in my view, I just hope for an early and smooth transition. Additionally it may not be a popular view and whilst I've said it before, more and more in this modern world environmental credentials and cultural sensitivity are key to unlocking doors. We are unblemished on that front and don't underestimate how far that will take us

Things could work out very well indeed provided Newmont are realistic and everything gets settled in a timely fashion. Uncertainty has been the biggest issue for us PI's. Once that is gone I hope the SP strengthens and has greater resilience. ASX follows from a more buoyant SP with the institutions then coming on board. One of the best things SD could say at the town hall is that the decline is going to be resuming. It would send a strong message to market that it is GGP who are going mining. I'm sure something can be worked out as part of the negotiation so that there is no unnecessary delay in progress towards the ore body. It is in no one's interest (seller or buyer) for there to be a hiatus beyond the derisking event of the dewatering currently hopefully close to completion.

If Newmont were asking fantastical money for Telfer what (realistically) would be the cost of going it alone and building our own processing plant? Surely without Havieron, Telfer is just a massive liability and so if Newmont have any sense it is pretty much gifted?

I can only hope that the divestment process is expidited because for Newmont to secure best value taking into account Telfer it is in no one's interest for there to be a substantial delay. Havieron needs to be mined soon. Hopefully the amicable relationships established from the outset in the JV will now bear fruit

Indeed MH01. This was my first thought when I heard about the TH but I just didn't know what the news would be. We await the 5th with baited breath...

I'm not sure this works for my medium term objectives but will wait and see what SD says, what the timeframe is and how the markets react. Long term of course this is likely to be good news for many here

Just confuse things I thought he said higher volume but lower pressure than anticipated! Presumably lower aquifer water could be hundreds or even thousands of years on from when it first began to permeate the ground

Bamps even replied saying we are in a strong position with a smiley face so I don't know what you are here to stir? Additionally you keep saying you are disappearing until the next RNS but I take it its not how we commonly use the term... You mean you'll be back when "Really Nothing's Said"

I agree that barring totally unforseen circumstances we should be at the ore body by late this year (perhaps late 3rd quarter?). The DTM will hopefully already be there by then so in essence the major catalysts should have been declared. Actually production may well be 2025 but if the Lassonde curve applies to us at all then we are going to have a very consolidated uplift prior to that production.
