Red on my portfolio too. There's a downbeat feel to everything but with what's going on in the middle east with a concern that more countries will be dragged in to conflict, and transport of goods from or through that region becoming more dangerous there is a lot of uncertainty. Couple that with the US looming towards an election where both of the main protagonists are unlikely to stabilise things in the economic or political arenas and we have a prolonged period of uncertainty.

Even with all that however we benefit from exploring and mining in a safe jurisdiction and once the final de-risking elements take place and we have clarity on our JV, I still think this is the best place for my money and it will likely outstrip (in performance terms) the rest of my portfolio put together over the next 12-18 months

Yep I've got a smallish holding with SOLG too. Lot's of rumour over acquisitions but also shorts closing. It might not take much for GGP to see a similar rise

OJ17 I didn't mean to imply that it had, but I can see how you would read it that way. What I meant was that I'm hopeful that evaporation rates and dewatering of the lower aquifer will push on apace and that perhaps this will happen quicker than we hope. Caution as always. Safety is the first priority. But there could be an accumulation of good news in early spring is what I'm thinking

I wonder if any of it is because there was a view that GGP were going to be an easy rollover? The fact that this MRE was released as promised by SD indicates that Newmont (and by default short termers) aren't going to make a quick buck out of us. So they bail. It was suggested that SD's balls were made of steel, but each time he leaves a meeting at Newmont there's rumour there's a big clunk as he gets out of his seat and a general murmuring and whispering as he drags what are now considered to be balls of gold out of the room - grinning as he goes

Yes indeed I am building in my investment/non-isa trading account. Last year I retained GGP shares within that account as I had money available to buy more in the ISA at the start of the tax year. That said I retain a variety of stocks or funds in my ISA to spread risk, even though my GGP holding is now much greater than I originally envisaged. On faster moving stocks I've timed sells reasonably well so I've been in a position to sell a profit on those within my ISA and load more into GGP without losing the tax break. Either way I'm certainly accumulating outside my ISA, it's just a shame that the short-lasting rumour of increasing ISA allowances in the the last budget never came to pass!

Even the most optimistic on this board will be somewhat disheartened seeing this dip below 9 again (I myself thought that three was enough resistance to keep it above). That said, just look at the photo's of what's happening at Havieron. This is the evidence of a DTM. This stuff is coming out of the ground and 30% of it is ours. The only way it won't be is by Newmont paying us a huge amount to take our JV's elsewhere and reap the rewards from those and from other unexplored tenements. This is only my personal opinion, but I think we will officially be miners by late spring

Zoros, although I share a bit of exasperation that production looks like it is more than 12 months away, the feasibility study and DTM are going to be the bigger drivers of the SP in my view. A few have lost patience and given up but if the Lassonde Curve really is applicable to us then the greatest gain in SP should occur in 2024 before we reach production. I still hold hope that the demand for both copper and gold will play into this scenario very well.

I may be looking at attaining the sort of returns I hoped for maybe 6-9 months later than I first hoped for, but I'm pretty much committed to delaying my early retirement by 12 months just to see this out. I still believe the rewards will make that decision a good one.

That's very sad to hear. I was very struck how in spite of relentless challenges Archways came across as extremely selfless, not wanting the board to be clogged up (as he saw it) with sympathy. As a way of being that is a gentle example of how kindly a man he seemed to be.

'Tis the season of Dickens. The story of young Pip coming into great wealth. Dickens is struggling with the title "Pip has low life expectations but he doesn't know there's great wealth in store - do I want the reader to have low expectations or great expectations? Perhaps if I hint at the benefactor not being as rich as hoped they will lower their expectations. I know, I'll call the book 'Low Expectations', it's got a ring to it. I'll drop an RNS calling entitled the "Miserable Resource Estimate" by way of some Christmas cheer.

Now that daytime seems almost as dark as night might I suggest we all hibernate until the end of February. For those unwilling to hibernate we could cryogenically freeze them and only defrost if we want to (indeed if ever). Disappointing as it is to dip back under 10 we aren't shifting until the proper news. I will snooze until then. If spring turns to summer without firm decisions and a clear pathway then and only then will I seriously review my holding

If this "only" rose 2% a day for just a couple of days a month it's the equivalent of pulling in my monthly salary if I were to take it as income. So I'm happy enough. Steady as she goes...

I think it's easy for those of us who've had the advantage insight and scrutiny over GGP's prospectivity to apply those insights to all buyers, when in reality I suspect sentiment and SP movement is often a lot more simplistic.

The latest SP rise pretty much started when Newmont completed the takeover of Newcrest. Those not in the know may have thought there would be an early decision on Havieron. We also had the likes of Don Durrett (who I actually think was rather exposed in his interview with Liam in terms of lack of grasp, but nevertheless spoke of 5 or 10 baggers) and as word filters out people want to be on the journey. Many don't necessarily understand the fundamentals, they just buy on the word of someone with influence. I as interested that during some of the initial rises some large buys were coming in at about 13.30 UK time, suggesting to me there were significant buys from North America. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter how informed those buyers are, they are making a punt.

Most of us on here understand that we have the primary catalysts to come. The updated MRE, news on further derisking and progress through the lower aquifer at Hav, the DTM (as partners or otherwise), assay results from other tenements, new JV's or development on existing ones etc, etc.

These are the true drivers of what is to come. What we've had so far is people jumping on not wishing to miss the train. Chuff Chuff
