It's a process I think; Inhaled is understandably more effective but they need to build the entire safety case for the inhaled combination treatment.

They need to understand how Remdesivir/interferon work together and the quickest way to do that is with this trial via IV. They are also running a phase 1 trial of inhaled Remdesivir to test its safety so won't be able to look at a combined inhaled therapy until after that.

Cheers Dave, i don't think its beyond American investors to follow (google) trends so it'll be pertinent. How pertinent would be very difficult to quantify.

Very informative article that highlights just how good an accomplishment the completion of the SNG hospital trial was. Also why it is even more challenging to complete recruitment for the home trial.

Just noticed the FDA EUA website added REGIOCIT yesterday. Obviously doesn't affect SNG but I found the letter of authorisation to be an interesting insight into the the process and the parameters that need to be documented if SNG001 is to receive such an approval.

"Synairgen's two-part Phase II trial, called SG015, has been designed to assess Synairgen's inhaled IFN-beta in COPD patients when they have a cold or flu infection. The data being presented are from Part 1 of the study, in which patients were treated with inhaled IFN-beta when they did not have a cold or flu infection. Analysis of samples from the lung shows that treatment with IFN-beta boosted the lungs' antiviral defences, increasing Synairgen's confidence in the likelihood of a positive outcome in Part 2 of the study in which inhaled IFN-beta is being assessed when patients do have a confirmed respiratory virus infection."

Thanks Dumbpunter, you could have just said 'I don't think its a takeover because....' and i would have agreed haha - a venrock takeover doesn't add up for me because I haven't seen any evidence of them taking drugs at this stage of development to market. I'm not sure i understand the suggestion that they're buying on behalf of someone else fully either.

The 30 years of data would only be to support the safety case. Efficacy against coronavirus is what matters and theres been little evidence to suggest it works in hospitalised patients.

As I understand it, the article in the lancet was withdrawn because of the concerns raised over the heart issues. Again, the withdrawal would still only benefit the safety aspect.

Why would the hydroxychloroquine story make SNG nervous? The proof is in the trial integrity and the data. Data is king. I don't believe for a second that makes SNG nervous. It certainly doesn't make me nervous.

The regulatory agencies or licencees will conduct their own review on the full dataset which is not necessarily the case for a peer review. Therefore a peer review, although would strengthen SNGs position, does not stop the company having the regulatory or licencing discussion. There was a very good link shared here a few weeks back on the subject that explained that in detail.

Dumbpunter I'm struggling to understand what you're getting at. On the one hand you're suggesting that this is not a blue chip investment (which it clearly isn't anyway) therefore Venrock are only having a punt and on the other youre saying that it takes a very confident professional to invest in this share - which is what Venrock are doing?
