Manifesto, as far the approval goes they have been clear from the 20th July that the next step was to speak to regulatory agencies about approvals so I guess that's 'going it alone'. However any prospective licencee/buyer will obviously know that if SNG get approval on their own then the price will rise significantly so in my mind its likely that both things are happening at the same time.

Surely a better deal is in the best interests of Venrock even if they have a holding in the buyer/licencee?

I think its a fair discussion in relation to SNG as its a therapeutic at a similar stage of development and hasn't been discussed here before.
Different therapeutics would be needed for different cases and understating that could help assess value.

I was wondering why it wasn't one direct comparison of treatment vs placebo. Will SNGs home trial be read out in a similar fashion considering a lot of cases may be mild?

Yea that's true Matt. I'd like to think if a similar situation happened here that the product would help to sustain the rise better. A pharma deal definitely would. The Kodak deal was 'only' a $750m loan.

Kodak's trajectory following that Trump announcement is a good example of how a mention from him could put a rocket under a share. It also shows how unsustainable that approach is.

Gilead started a trial last month to test safety of inhaled remdesivir. I guess that would have to be properly established in the first instance.

Very plausible when you consider they are already conducting a 1b trial to test safety of inhaled remdesivir, as well as the ACTT 3 trial of Remdesivir & interferon 1b through IV.

Hi pmjh, we looked at that a few weeks back - There's been a lot of talk about AZN on here but Gilead is the big standout on that portfolio.

1. The major risk of the virus during winter time is other viruses and the fact that CV inhibits the immune response to them. As highlighted by SNG, the hospital admissions for COPD patients with exacerbation's during the winter season put huge strain on the NHS even without covid.
2. I personally knew someone who was 32 with no co-morbidity who died a few months back with CV.
3. This is not the flu. As someone rightly pointed out the other day - the flu does not kill front line staff, CV does. Do not underestimate the effectiveness of lockdowns in keeping the death rate down.
4. That is completely unsubstantiated. Everyone always thinks they have normal flu even if they have a cold and unfortunately we may never know for sure how early the virus arrived on our shores.

Bruce, if SNG001 were already in the market as an anitviral then they wouldn't have needed to go to this extent of testing to see if were effective against covid.

I find the question around prophylactic use an interesting one. RMs quote in the Guardian,“Imagine if we had done this work five years earlier, this drug could have been stockpiled by governments,” Marsden said. “And, when coronavirus emerged in Wuhan we could have given this to all healthcare workers and anyone exposed on cruise ships or elsewhere.”

The risk of long term side effects are huge so it would need to be well proven, but the potential is there to reinforce the lungs in people who are in exposed areas.
