It'll be years before the full effects of the virus on the rest of the body are undertsood. I live with a paramedic and he thinks this disease will re-write medical books. How much the disease can restrict oxygen is frightening and its no wonder other organs are affected by that. Add in the immune (over-)response and its going to be a long time before its fully understood.

It's not for Synairgen to find that understanding though. They have a drug that can help the situation now and they (quite rightly) are focusing on getting it approved to do so. We should let them get on with it.

B2, for Synairgen to start trying to demonstrate the effects of the disease on the heart they will complicate the trial and approval process. Its a step-by-step program that they are going through and the only thing they may need to get approval is more data. Thats more data in context of the criteria already set out in the trial. To add further criteria would prolong the process.

Once the drug is approved then it can be assessed in a myriad of ways but the priority is to get it approved and out there to help people.

Hi B2, I don't think Tom Wilkinson or Synairgen would comment on that report without their own evidence to support such a discussion and how SNG001 can help. The damage is due to later stage COVID19 - lack of oxygen to other organs and the immune response/cytokine storm. It kinda goes without saying that if early treatment with SNG001 prevents the onset of severe lower respiratory tract illness and improves breathlessness then it will also help prevent the subsequent damage to other organs.

Anyway, i'm sure they're busy enough analysing/presenting the hospital trial data (and possibly COPD data) to be answering us on such matters.

RM said during the webinar that the home trial recruitment has been slow going. One of the reasons for that has been the success of shielding. People who were shielding are essentially the home trial target group. Shielding ended today so they may see more recruitment to the home trial if UK numbers continue to rise. Otherwise it'll be a slow burner.

If they start an expanded international trial they may look to fill the criteria for that so they can demonstrate the use for the drug at home.

Thanks Dave, it does day that peer review and publishing of the results would be needed as next steps. I suppose that's because they don't have access to the dataset. I also suspect that may change if a large authority (FDA/EMA) give SNG001 some sort of approval.

Yea i think the pandemic will result in a phase 3/EUA supported roll out. Eleanor fish hints at what could come next in the article below whereby they gather data whilst getting the drug out there to help people. Tom Wilkinson also alluded to phase 3 trial in a link that was shared yesterday.

I think this would also need a lot more SNG001 than SNG can currently put in place so i also think the commercial route will be laid out before that roll out begins.

Manifesto, Richard made no apologies during the webinar on the 20th July for plugging the at home trial as recruitment was slow. It was clear that the more exposure the better for him but he did say that the success of the shielding initiative was a contributing factor to slow recruitment. That changes tomorrow and if those at risk catch the virus they should have every opportunity for help.

I do appreciate SNG will be maxed out at the minute but if they can fill that arm of the trial it could open up the possibility of getting the drug out there in the home environment. If an EUA is issued I think it will only allow for hospital administration (as that's what the data supports) so they should (and probably are) keeping the drum beat going on the home trial.

Hi all, i've had a small investment here (c.25k shares) for the last month or so and thinking about buying some more. I have a couple of questions;

With 2.7b shares in issue a sale of 2-4bn would give us a SP of roughly 75-150p. Is the feeling here that that is possible? Are there any broker projections?

Also, it's my understanding that within the takeover code there is a 28 day put up or shut up 'rule' on takeovers. Would that apply here or am i over simplifying the process?

Hi Robort, peer review is simply the primary method with which the trial results are published for the scientific community/public. It is not necessarily a pre-requisite for regulatory approval (given the current climate) or a commercial agreement as both the agencies and licencees will do their own review. In fact, the agencies/licencees will see the whole dataset which isn't always the case with peer review.

Can easily see the logic for for Gilead/Merck/MerckSerono seeking a licence for inhaled SNG001.

Yea we spoke about peer review yesterday and there were a couple of really good posts from guys familiar with the process. The general consensus was that it wasn't the natural next step given the current climate. The next step, as the company have stated themselves, is to analyse the full data set and speak to the regulatory agencies. Peer review is not necessarily a pe-requisite to that as the agencies (and any potential licencees) will carry out their own analysis on the full data set.
