So many questions to be answered here:
1. Why on earth would the Jamaican Government grant a 2 year extension to the licence if they knew that UOG is struggling financially? Has the question been asked or has BL spun this one out? If I was the Jamaicans I would have given the licence to a major or a Company with deep pockets.
2. So BL said to the Jamacians that UOG will do the work but knew that Egypt was failing. So he knew he could only do this through asking s/hs for more money, which, isn’t guaranteed.
3. What happens with the licence if the funding fails?
4. BL has always put a positive spin on this but he knew that things were totally different.
Perhaps the above will lead to more questions and BL needs to be challenged on this.
Well that’s it - sold my last tranche this morning having bought in at 14p. This is going nowhere as epl and the acquisition of Mercuria have had a devastating impact on the Company. MF has feathered his nest and really should have taken this company forward but decided not to do so. The div might also be under threat,
It’s been a blast over the years with lots of informative posts from various people for which I’m grateful.
I wish everyone all the best for the future.
Well said Maverick and would think that a lot of us are thinking the same.
Why on earth have 2 directors bought shares that’s what I want to know? Unless, there are negotiations ongoing about something abroad that we don’t know otherwise it’s a very bad trade chucking money away.
Said it for a long time that NS will be a graveyard under Labour, Aberdeen will be a ghost town and politicians just spouting promises that they can’t keep. When a politician actually wakes up and smells the coffee that they won’t be earning all these billions in tax then everyone will say I told you so but it will be too late by then.
Then you have the eco loons who are determined to stop all o&g production to rely on renewables. Has anyone told them if we switched off o&g today we’d have to import from abroad and we, the taxpayers, would have to pay more for our energy? There is also not enough renewables at the moment and is also not profitable.
Energy is a political pawn in a very bad game and could see thousands of jobs lost but listen to Labour and there will be thousands of jobs in the green sector - oh no they won’t…. Not properly thought through as always.
With no appetite from investors with what’s happening this could easily, very easily, go a whole lot lower. Div maintained - wouldn’t have thought so and that would be the final nail in the coffin.
Just thinking that what Mercuria have actually bought is a company paying 75% (or 78% under Labour). With investment allowances to be deleted they are actually inheriting a dog in a dog industry. It’s going to end up in tears.
I’m holding to see the div then selling
If the cost to make renewables was cheap the transition to green from o&g would happen tomorrow. However, the costs involving renewables is really high and the technology isn’t there yet. O&G has 10 plus years to run imo.
There is nothing different from today to yesterday. The only difference is that X is working overtime to get people on board. If you have bought in make sure you make a profit in the short term. Jamacia has a 2 year licence extension so it’s not going to be quick.
Anyone with sense can now see this WFT or epl was simply a way of collecting money to shore up other areas. It’s a bit like rob Peter to pay Paul. No party can stop the WFT as the money will have to be found from somewhere else. What about banks, big tech etc??
Taking the div (if there is one) then selling between April and October. Say goodbye to your £75k Mr Flegg unless we expand abroad…..
Interesting day today on so many fronts.
Firstly, Orsted - the World Leader in wind farms announced 800 job loses and exiting various countries due to costs. Hmmm, might need o&g for longer if these projects get delayed or pulled.
This brings me on to Labour saying that we are going to create GB Energy which will be green energy. So with Orsted slimming down how on earth can GB Energy be profitable and I bet that taxpayers are likely to foot the bill. This is not workable but again same old politicians spouting rubbish making you believe that they are the saviours. Where is the climate guru, the one failed Labour leader, in all this Ed Milliband??
Then to add insult to injury Labour will pull the tax allowances for drilling and increase the tax bill to 78%. This will be the death nell for the NS.
So this puts me onto the final point why even drill in the NS and the presentations keep on saying this. It’s a no brainer, buy something abroad where there are bigger profits to be made.
One thing is for sure when Labour win I don’t want to be holding any SQZ shares. So Mitch, good luck with your purchase unless of course you know something that we don’t.
