POO has now risen above the level of the July 2017 rising high, we are back in bull territory again - I just hope is stay's up by close in the US tonight.

It looks like Saudi's are confident that POO will remain high without having to share out their assets with the rest of the world ?????

We are still a little short on WTI - about 30 cents - I but I think Brent is slightly above the resistance.

The real test comes later with Powell's speach at the Fed - fingers crossed !!!

The SP rallied to finish less than 1% down - also the board comments on Investor.com have turned more positive again.

POO is still trading at below the July 2017 rising high, turned resistance.

It needs to break $68.90 on WTI by the weeks close to rise above this level.

However, the rise could be halted by Powell's speech at the Fed that is expected to strengthen the dollar with more talk of US interest rate rises.

No, I am just a humble retail grower of ornamental plants but the principles are the same.

Looking at it another way -

The crop trials emphasise the enhanced early growth of the Potato plants, the dark green foliage - this all means that as the plant matures it will be able to produce a larger than average crop of quality potatoes with importantly more tubers produced per plant and more tubers that reach marketable size.

Also in dry weather the enhanced early growth means the roots can get deeper into the soil to find moisture.

Although the yield is obviously important it isn't actually the most important consideration for the Potato farmer - he can regulate yield by irrigation but to much water is bad news.

The most important things are quality, dry matter content, tuber size and storability so I looked at the first Indian crop trial and saw this -

"POLY4 application reduced the proportion of non-marketable potato tubers by 27% compared to MOP + S"

As a grower that to me that is exceptionally impressive, but even that doesn't tell the whole story.

I suspect that the Scottish potato breeders will be able to develop varieties that can get even more benefits from Poly4 with flavour, disease resistance and dry matter content being the prime considerations.

It looks like we will have to wait anything up to four months before we get any more news on the AkzoNobel deal so unless something else significant happens in the meantime I don't think much is going to happen here - we wait !!!

Yes, totally agree 121 and AB may I think still sell a 20% stake in Kraken to reduce Enquest's reliance on the field.

This may also pull forward AK's final commissioning - I still think we could get news on that over the next few days with Bumi's results due.

Logistics doesn't have to be complicated to set up.

The current sales team could expand to get the product to market.

All invoicing could be done through existing wholesale networks with the wholesalers reps also selling product.

Deliveries could be on own transport but big hauliers such as Eddie Stobart may be better.

Sirius are more than half way there already with general PR and crop trials, direct marketing certainly makes sense in Europe and the UK - maybe this could even be counted as part of the Torp equation by setting up a 100% Sirius owned Europe and UK marketing company????

Their marketing exercise for Poly4 looks to me as though they intend to go direct and also the lack of Torps for Europe may be another indication.

The long term profitability of Sirius would I think be greatly enhanced if they did market directly in Europe and the UK. Also it would give Sirius a far greater control over the supply chain and help to enhance the value of the product.

Sirius have to develop Poly4 as a brand - why let others take the profit ?

Fertilisers reach the market generally through wholesalers so Sirius could supply into this network with direct deliveries of larger volume invoiced through the wholesaler and small quantities delivered and invoiced by the wholesaler.

What I meant was - Do Sirius intend to set up their own supply chain and market Poly4 directly to the end user in Europe and the UK.
