Stena Don has now left Kraken and is on her way to Scapa Flo with her escorts.
It looks like that has cleared the way for SS to start her approach for a hook-up later today although she is still around 20 nautical mile south of AK so it probably wont be until this afternoon.

Simply low volume in a lack lustre market for oil shares - it takes a lot to get this share moving - just be patient, our time will come, but it may not be until next year - although some very switched on posters on this forum reckon it will be much quicker.

The two funds shorting M&S have been a constant thorn for many years - Blackrock Management was recorded when Short Tracker started their daily service in November 2012 and Pelham Master Fund first appeared in March 2016.
The level of shorts is low now so hopefully with the Ocado deal going live in September they will reduce their activities and then probably quietly wait on future events - I think it is too much to expect that they will totally cash out, but you never know.

Shorts will fade into the background again as volume increases and SP will rise but expect them to return again if volume dips through the silly season.

Job cuts just announced at John Lewis - who are talking about closing stores - Arcadia and Harrods.

I suspect this is just the start and that we will hear from M&S soon - all High Street retailers have to cut capacity.

The current retail footprint was far too high before the coronavirus - the process of consolidation will now accelerate considerably because of the virus.

This is a culture change - the High Street will never look the same again.

Patience is the name of the game here - we still have a recession to contend with at the moment - this is a 3-5 year hold for me.

Looking at the coronavirus situation in the US from a cold hearted purely economic standpoint it seems to be the case that low compliance of lockdown would do the least damage to their economy - this seems to be the conclusion that Trump has reached because the economy has been the strongpoint through his presidency.
How things will actually pan out is difficult to predict but the destabilisation resulting from the friction created in US society should not be underestimated.

It looks to me that the current shareholders will only make money if the company is taken over, but who will want it at the moment and if someone does they wont want to pay top dollar.
However, it does seem that the company is still viable, so when Brent does peak again they may find equity finance to fun development but off course that means dilution.

The M&S range will only be a part of the offering after September - Ocado Retail will continue with a basics range with Ocado branding - also customers currently get discount voucher refunds if it is found that they could have brought their groceries cheaper online with Tesco.
Savvy shoppers can shop cheaply at Ocado - especially if they avoid the expensive brands - I guess this is a market they will be developed.

Very unlikely - Ocado consider themselves to be a tech company with global ambitions to rival Amazon - the idea of selling a stake in Ocado Retail was to leave the retail business to the retail professionals - the big money as far as they are concerned is in the tech.

SS is just 11 nautical miles from AK and is slowly circling around for a hook-up from the west - she has slowed right down, so it looks like we will have to wait for the hook-up.
She is not now scheduled to arrive at Scapa Flo until Saturday lunchtime so we may have to wait until Thursday - that would be 11 days since the last tanker left.

Actually I think that this is a 3-5 year hold for one simple reason - M&S is the only major supermarket that is set up to fully exploit home delivery - the potential for growth is extraordinary - the UK grocery market was worth £193.6 billion in 2019.

My concern isn't based on the oil industry - I totally agree with you on that, regarding the supply situation.
The problem is that I simply cannot see world leaders working together in the way that will be necessary to lift the world out of recession - that will mean, I think, that the recession will drag on far longer than expected.
We have already seen an abject failure by many countries to deal with the coronavirus crisis, notably the US, and this lack of leadership will I think be very damaging.

Brent seems to have stabilised and looks set to continue its modest recovery through the rest of 2020.
Its done better than I thought it would and now seems set to get to maybe $50 by the year end as the growth curve flattens out.
That's not to say that we won't get more volatility as a result of the coronavirus and political mess ups.

SS is just 51 nautical miles to the south east of AK and moving at 13.5 knots so that indicates some urgency, therefore we could get a hook-up today - the last tanker left 9 days ago.
The weather is OK.

The problem is that online delivery is an extra cost for Sainsburys because it it done manually in store.
Compare that to Ocado Retail, who will soon be delivering for and be part owned by M&S, they deliver from warehouse's and pick orders by robots with much lower overheads.

The short term problems are obvious at the moment but its the long term that has to be a concern for Sainsburys.
The company simply isn't geared up for online and could easily end up with with reduced market share and a large estate of out of town supermarkets with reduced customer flow.
The way forward is for UK consumers to do most of their food shopping online and to top up at convenience stores - this trend has been greatly accelerated by the coronavirus.

The trouble is that in the US most firms do a Lazarus and continue trading.

The shorts have certainly pulled the SP down, but in doing so they have created a fantastic entry point for new investors - £1.10 is good - £1.00 is bloody brilliant!!!
