RE: Face masks12 Apr 2020 20:44
Evening Guys, hope you are all having a good weekend, safely locked away at home with families you live with and even those home alone.
Seems to me that Easter couldn"t have come at a better time this year, those I speak to just about every day sound so much better than they have, a great excuse to eat well, drink too much and stuff your face with chocolate. Given the circumstances this year it seems people need little encouragement in indulging any way they choose.
What I have noticed in my little world, which I had never really done before was use video phone calls on Whats App. What a difference that makes, being able to have body language all in a call, and for me that has filled the gap enormously in self isolating. Being from a very low tech group I was just wondering how many others felt the same way, and that is certainly just another little ""thing"" I will take from what is going around for all of us. Two weeks in to my diet which I needed to do, has given me something else to focus on, and two weeks on have lost five and a half kilos, just another 9/10 to go and feeling so much better already, don"t know how I let that slide, with the breathing difficulties I live with every kilo counts. So hopefully by the end of May I will reach the weight I did a couple of years back which made an enormous difference to me.
TF I get what you are saying about face masks, I have actually read many opinions on the subject and funnily enough they all amount to the same thing, which was my original point and yours too, that anything that minimalises risk is worth a try but as Inanaco has pointed out there are really no guarantees they work as well as some think. Perhaps for those who are out every day amidst the hussle and bustle of city life they are a good option, but for me at home not something I would use, there is little point So it is like everything a choice, which seems the way that debate has concluded, no rights no wrongs just for each to decide.
I hope a few of you found it useful my posts about volunteer help, they have really worked for me, and I dread to think how I would be coping without it. Those of you who have elderly parents or indeed your own needs, my best adviceis not to sign up on Government help lines, which are working in many cases but with a local company to you where it would seem they are responding still to same day calls, whereas the Government lines are so busy it takes longer to get a response. My helper lives just 100 yards from me and she is in contact with me every couple of days asking me can she help in any way. How lucky am I, and I am sure if you have problems reaching relatives just making the calls on their behalf, which is difficult for many will be the best gift you can ever give to them, and for you give you some peace of mind they have someone else to do local shopping, prescriptions etc.
So wishing you all well, have a good Easter Monday, and be safe...........C7
