I think it also firmly puts to bed the debate about whether there is little growth and that acquisitions are a distraction. Precisely the opposite is happening to that posters viewpoint.

Yep, hard to argue with your logic Crumbs. Maybe 2nd June, or maybe 5th June. Reason I say that is have a look at the link below. This indicates to me, the Scancell poster session is on 3rd June and that, is a Saturday. Notice from the SCIB RNS links you kindly provided, that the RNS came retrospectively and so I’ll go for Monday 5th June. We just need either you, or I, to be Bob on :-)

Sure, agreed. My point though was that it isn’t unreasonable to expect an update from the company prior to ASCO, therefore allowing conversations at ASCO to be more up to date than what was released in Feb.

And I stand by that.

Hi Berm - thanks for responding on the ASCO point (under a different heading due to addressing more than one point).

I understand what you’re saying about the Feb Modi RNS but does that also not indicate that further clinical responses from the monotherapy are need to be evaluated? In fact Ottensmeier himself states within that same RNS, “Further studies with Modi-1 monotherapy……….”.

So whilst I get the abstract submission date / timing, the title of ASCO indicates (to me at least), there is more to talk about than the point in time in Feb.

Of course I might be interpreting incorrectly.

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to tease out ie. It would be very reasonable to expect a Modi update RNS within 3 weeks, given the transparent title of the ASCO presentation.

And if that isn’t positive, why bother turning up at all?

Some relevance (but no direct connection at this time) to Scancell, within an RNS released by ONT this morning. I don’t propose to understand it all and maybe our resident science types would like to comment but at a high level, it appears to champion a potential fast-track and safer approach to production.

I’m a little surprised there has been no M&A action this year to date, given the large cash pile they are sitting on. That said, perhaps there have been no opportunities, at the right price.

6th June will reveal how far the “record order book” has translated into confirmed sales and cash on the bottom line (keeping in mind 2nd half of year weighting typically).

I don’t get why the Chairman would say that at this point in time. It almost suggests they were expecting follow on business, even though the market had been told it was one-off related to the pandemic.

Perhaps my interpretation but seemed odd to me.

You wouldn’t have thought a chap with his background, has turned up just to sit on his hands, would you.

Solid Trading Update and another year of growth, both sales and profits, on the cards for Macfarlane. More acquisition action before the end of 2023 a fair bet imo.

Perhaps Johnny Logan’s 1980 entry “What’s Another Year”, isn’t on the cards here!
