The government's refusal to let pupils have follow-up tests to confirm positive Covid results is "ruining" their return to school, parents say.

They are reporting cases of families having to isolate after a child tests positive at school - even when more reliable tests show a negative result.

Pupils at secondary schools are being offered three lateral-flow tests following their return to school. But the rapid-testing policy does not allow them to have the more accurate lab-based PCR tests to overrule these in-school tests.

Experts say the risk of "false positives" among the rapid tests is high, with the Royal Statistical Society believing more positive results could be wrong than right this week.

But the situation will change after next week when pupils will be allowed to do tests at home and a positive result will need to be followed up with a PCR test.

SCIENTISTS have created a new tool which can accurately diagnose people with coronavirus by the sound of their cough.
DeepCough, led by Essex University, used 8,000 clinically-validated samples of coughing.
Samples, from a range of people who had tested positive and negative for the virus, were taken from hospitals in Spain and Mexico since April last year.

Experts say the algorithm allowed the tool to accurately identify "98 per cent" of cases as either positive or negative.
The hope it could herald a quicker, cheaper and less invasive way of preliminary testing for the virus.
The two leading tests for detecting Covid-19 – antigen detection and PCR – involve swabs of bodily fluid.

So when DID we or DO we get paid for this Tender? as I don't believe it was accounted for (in FULL) in Y/End 2020's figures (RNS Jan 2021)

I Seem to recollect that at a previous WSCC meeting (3/4 years ago with Paul Vonk) the legal side of the Council advised the Committee that if the application was refused, ANGUS could take this to the high court and if the verdict went in favour of the company the council could possibly face very high legal costs. There followed a further discussion with councillors who then approved the application with Conditions. Today nobody apart from GL & Chris Bartlett? has spoken for the company

Expecting a bit of a pivot to emphasize NYCT diversification beyond COVID. NYCT has a 5 year collaboration with Immunexpress to develop rapid PCR Sepsis products. I think the recent purchase of IT-IS may be a final piece necessary to launch a near patient suite of sepsis Host Response tests. This is a huge unmet medical need.

So this LFT test/development will Dovetail nicely with any announcements due (Phase 1 extension or Phase 2 or £22B Tender or something else???)

Development of a COVID-19 LFT test

The Group is continuing its development work on an IgG antibody lateral flow test (LFT) which will be used as a rapid antibody test intended for professional use. An LFT is an easy-to-use diagnostic device, used to confirm the presence or absence of a pathogen or biomarker, and it takes about 10 to 20 minutes or less to get a result.

The Group plans to launch its LFT in the second quarter of 2021, a little later than expected, as it has made the strategic decision to develop a new generation of LFT to detect the neutralizing antibodies generated by a successful immunization and thus to help control the effectiveness of future vaccines 3. Whilst I understand we have NDA’s with UK Government Tenders/Bids etc, surely we can RNS/Announce other successful business (eg UNICEF or other countries)?

From Jan RNS: Revenue of €239.2 million (£213.7 million) delivered in H2 2020

So by my Maths we still have £193 million (minimum) to bank from Phase 1 £406m - £213.7m.
(Of course a high percentage of £213.7m was from other products/services outside of Phase 1) so perhaps its £275m still to Bank + UNICEF/Ukraine £13.5m + Phase 1 Extention £100m+Phase 2 + Promate/PCR/Winterplex/Saliva testing.

What revenue figure for 2021 - £500m, £600m £700m or greater ???

And BM, don't forget, although we are only on day 50 for 2021 @ £1.5m approx banked in each day, we've added a further £75m approx to the Year End Figure.

PLUS all the other Sales business we've done e.g UNICEF / Ukraine etc etc.

Hopefully Phase 1 extended And Phase 2 will be announced shortly, then there's the £22B tender to be announced + USA + Worldwide

Quite agree with your viewpoint.

Couldn't understand why Vadim didn't push that we are a GLOBAL company, that Africa, Central and South America (amongst many others) have not yet set off on the TESTING road, let alone Vaccinating whole continents.

How we are leading the field in discovering the Variants (another one this week?), how our tests are WHO gold standard 100% - He needs to get himself up to speed!!!

Re: 406m (4 months contracts: Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan)- So does the BB think that a/a Y/End we may still have invoices for Dec & Jan (at least) to be invoiced and paid to us?

IF equally divided (= £101.5m per month) we could have £203m still due to us?

Forty Days & Forty Nights have now passed since Year End 2020.

Working with Q2's Cash/Banking of £1.25m average per day, our Revenues should have increased at least £50m (40 x £1.25m) and our Bank Balance should have increased by £30m - £35m (My opinion only). So we should be around £120m - £135m in our Bank.
That's more than most AIM companies will make this year!!!
