CHINA has made "humiliating" anal Covid swabs compulsory for ALL international travellers arriving in the country.

Beijing claims the procedure - which involves a 5cm long saline-soaked swab shoved up a patient's bum - is more accurate that other on-the-spot virus tests.

Doctors in China have been using the anal test on quarantined patients to check if they are free of the coronavirus.

Li Tongzeng, a respiratory disease medic, told state media that Covid traces stay detectable for longer in poo samples than they do in the nose or throat.

However, the prospect of foreign visitors being swabbed up the bum has sparked controversy.

A new variant of the coronavirus called 'B.1.214' has been detected, according to the daily Le Soir. It represents 4% of infections in Belgium, approximately as much as the South African and Brazilian variants. Researchers from ULiège and KU Leuven are monitoring the situation closely, according to the newspaper.
The new "Spike Insertion" variant was discovered for the first time in Liège last January. This variant has a mutation that has hardly been observed so far, but is not yet classified as a variant of concern.

I believe that one of our LTH/Researchers here will gather in Information re any Tender Extension/Successful New Tender Award before the company has time to compose then issue an RNS.

IF it was to happen late on a Friday (or anyday for that matter) I think it would be next morning for the RNS.

An LFT is an easy-to-use diagnostic device used to confirm the presence or absence of a pathogen or biomarker and takes approximately 10-20 minutes or less to provide a result.

The Company expects to launch its LFT in Q2 2021, slightly later than planned as it has taken the strategic decision to develop a next generation of LFT to detect the neutralizing antibodies generated by successful immunisation and, therefore, to assist in monitoring the effectiveness of future vaccines3. The Company believes this exemplifies how it can extend the revenue horizon for COVID-19 as the demand for testing continues to evolve."

I can see these being placed in Business Centres also. At Canary Wharf, Liverpool St, London Bridge and Victoria I believe these PCR tests will be needed to get the City to reopen. Same for all centres Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds Etc

Perhaps have the test after work and have the results "Texted" or ~"Apt'd" to you same evening. therefore you don't have 100's of people hanging around a Versalab for 80 minutes - where would you put them all?

A new Covid variant from Antigua has been found in the UK after two people returned from the Caribbean.

Public Health England (PHE) said the strain shares some traits of other variants but would not be categorised as concerning for now.

The health authority said today the variant, known as VUI-202103/01 (lineage B.1.324.1) was designated a variant under investigation
on March 4.

The two cases were found in the South East of England.

"The variant contains the spike mutations E484K and N501Y, both usually associated with Variants of Concern (VOC), however it does not feature specific deletions that would lead to a designation as a VOC," PHE said in a statement.

So day 70 of 2021 and averaging nearly £1.5m per day (H2 daily average), we should have Banked at least £100m this year?

Add in Final 10 - 12 weeks payment from DHSC Phase 1 contract (minimum) £80m + Unicef/Ukraine contract £13+, we should have topped up our Bank Account by approx £200m.

Of course some will have been spent on Equipment, Inventory and Salaries etc.
But we should still have an Extremely Healthy Bank Balance.

Any opinions as to whether the next big tender announcements are being held over until the Next Fiscal Tax Year (April 6th onwards)?

Does it give the Government any kind of Kudos in the Public eye for NOT spending/allocating this £22b this year?
