if vod announce a rights issue, at � 1 70 , shareholders who hold vod shares would be entiltled to shares at that reduced price. but if the the share price was � 2 10 , then your better buying when the vod sp will go down to the rights issue. price. fact. a rights issue is a way a company raises capitol for various reasons. the problem then is their are more shares in circulation + the vod share price would be around � 1 70, though it noramally rises on the issue day. lets hope it don't come to that . danieth , I think your burying your head in the sand + just hoping for the best + is imo not the 1st time you've done so. your right im no share expert , but my predictions are far and away better than anyone on here to date and its still my considered opinion Vodafone will not reach � 2 40 this year. 10 months for the stock market to prove me wrong and for me , yet again to prove those thicko analyst + brokers once again wrong. gla + atb.

I tell you now , if Vodafone set it at � 1 70 then that's what the share price would be , give or take a p or 2. every rights issue ive known as followed that pattern, so why would vods be any different. shareholders taking up the other would probably get a rise in price on day of issue, but theres then more shares on the market, ie dilution. id take up the offer , if I had the cash , at the time, but I know the share price would be way down from my other vod shares holding.

All this talk regarding Vodafone future , of course is all conjecture. But not too much of it sounds great for Vodafone shareholders. If there was a rights issue set at £ 1 70p, then vod sp will go down to £1 70. I must say in the present climate my £2 40 looks a great bet , 2 months in to the new year. Rights issue. Well if their was a rights issue, may be good for short term gain. But in future , I feel a Divi cut would be on the cards. Just my opinion. Not a fan of rights issues.

hi foggy, we seem to be talking at cross purposes. 5 years ago Vodafone were supposed to merge with liberty, thus the vod sp would zoom up. well if it zoomed up and did when ever this was remoured, , surely that was it was deemed v good for vod sp. the recent delince as on other message boards been attributed to Vodafone now rumoured to be buying liberty. no surge in Vodafone share price, as city investors deem this not a great move for voadfone. yes I know vod are currently in talks with liberty regards asset buys, so if vod are the buyer , then liberty aren't buying Vodafone, it would appear. who said , the line about getting a banana out the jar, baloney Maloney , or victor Vodafone.

Hi Danieth , I did make money on the Verizon deal, but only from the initial surge. I didn't hang around for the transaction. Nothing in it unless you held on to the Verizon shares + took the Divi. Buy the rumour sell the news. Will check posts on ii site + get back as + when.

That's what I've read on other vod message boards + indeed is given as 1 of the reasons the share price as gone down, as the city didn't think it would be to great a move.

I bought Vodafone 5 years ago trying to cash in on the Verizon deal + then a merger with liberty. How come now all the talk is of Vodafone buying liberty. Nothing in that for Vodafone holders, or am I wrong. At least it's edging back up now for a change.

yes , vod seems to be branching in to other areas . only fly the india unit + if the dividend holds up. otherwise a great buy now. gla + atb .

Well Danieth, if you have to sell some of your holding by end of may on the plus side Vodafone have results may 15th so if these are looked upon favourable we may get a decent run. Last results day was a disaster so hopefully next will be good.thats 3 months away + that's a long long long time, imo , so who knows. Gla +ATB.

Nice rise today. It makes me laugh when on CNBC + Bloomberg they say that the stock market as regained 70% of the losses of 2 weeks ago. Yes true. But many shares + vod + shell included are well, well down from 2 weeks ago. Many now saying vod so is oversold + I must say I think that's right. Theres a few shares now that look very good buy. Only 25p to go or 24 weeks to full Divi , we hope. Gla + ATB.

Hi Gerry, yes at this price it's a long term buy + hold. It does seem as others are saying on other Vodafone message boards that market makers have it in for Vodafone. That earnings report came just at the wrong time, though a market correction was enivitable. It's just if Vodafone Divi is maintained. That's the big question.gla + ATB. It looks a long way back to £2 30.

Some idiot on another vod message board was saying the true value of this share is £2 70. Complete Pratt imo. It's £2. Because that's what it's worth today. The fundamentals , cashflow, balance sheet , the Divi , they always say ,it means jack. It's worth £2. Fact. These people live in a fantasy world. No one on this planet is gonna give you £2 70, but what it's worth today, cause that's the only day that matters. Tomorrow + going forward who knows.

5 years ago, I owned HSBC shares. During that period I received 2 emails aday in my inbox saying 2 high street banks were weeks from going bust + it was being covered up. I think they use cookies to see what your Googling + then act accordingly. I panicked + sold at a small loss. 5 yes on + no bank gone bust.From that day no emails. Now I make my own mind up. But they are nasty people out there.

having had a look on other message boards someone made a very valid point. that was a vod sp divi cut was always mentioned when vod sp was plummeting + down at �2 or lower. yet when vod at above �2 25 not a thing. I must say this certainly rings true. playing on peoples fears. if Vodafone + liberty do merge or Vodafone buy liberty how does that benefit the Vodafone shareholders. just a thought . gla + alb .

the steady trickle down continues. great buy at these levels. but only if divi is maintained in the next year or so. its down to luck and having the bottle to get in now , though its a fair old wait till next divi. somewhere lurking in my head I think in a few years Vodafone will cut divi, then in a few years after that liberty will merge with Vodafone + Bloomberg + cnbc will say this is great for vod shareholders. but it wont be for us longstanding suffering vod shareholders. most would have got out long time by then + counted our losses. lets hope this don't happen. I recall poster gerry , saying on here he held talk talk shares. not for the faint hearted , as some one once remarked to me about my holding in burberry.

ive lost count , in the last 15 years when ive said to my brother it would be great if we could fast forward 6 months on the stock market. . well this is one of them times. need to get back to calmer waters. the days where you don't dread looking at the footsie in the morning. but just have a quick glance + then get on with the day. that day will come before we can start looking up, but when, who knows.

Dow Jones down over 3%. Vodafone sp below £2 tomorrow . On CNBC in U S , they now say some stocks at good buying levels , as fundamentals + balance sheets, can flow, blah , blah, blah. Vodafone now a great buy, historically. Only thing is if Divi cut, your stuffed. But think most will be tempted at £2. Me I'll top up shell in 2 months. Vod sp just to risky + Divi 25 weeks away. Gla + all the best. As I always say stock markets go to go down, to go back up. But we may av to wait awhile. My £2 40 , looks like a v gud predicton now, though I'd just love to be proven wrong.
