Not bad figures overall imo. Not sure why the big fall, but anyone hoping for £24 & higher will be waiting a good while. I will buy a tad more around £21, but be warned once I get in it will fall another £1 in a week. 2021 & investor returns look a long long way off. I'll just have to collect Divi in meantime. Oil is very difficult to predict with something flaring up in the middle East all the time.

I couldn't predict either way. BP beat estimates yesterday but dropped sharply. It all depends how analysts choose what to focus on. Shell as risen 3 out of 4 times the last results. I find it something like this. Southampton lost 9-0 on Friday. So if they lose the next match 5-0 some pundits see it as a positive , as they only conceded 5. That's how it sometimes work on the stock market. She'll have drip fed bits of the results to avoid the shock & awe of 3 months ago. Up or down tomorrow can't see it being that big a drop of rise. If a sharp fall, anyone holding over £25 will have a long road to travel back. I'll predict a small rise tomorrow.

It seems BP has announced today similar results to shell announced 3 months age, with profits down nearly half for the last 3 months..BP went up 3 months ago on good results, let's hope shell now goes up too on Thursday.

If it carries on rising to Thursday, I will keep my powder dry for a retreat in the new year. Still no Brexit, now or never of course.

What many analysts don't tell you is that oil shares in the main are cyclical. Mainly November to march the share price runs back, as does the price at the pumps, with the price of oil rising rising from April onwards. But with the no deal Brexit + trump versus all comers god knows how things will pan out. Though next Thursday is pivotal for any momentum, especially with the downturn after results 3 months ago. People keep reminding us about 2021-2025 & the shareholders returns, but that is a million miles away in shareholder terms to hang ones hat on. In shares , as in life you never know, What's around the corner. You can only deal with the past & the here & now imo.

Well done to you !!! I was expecting it to fall to around £21 50. Has had a good run of late. Results next Thursday. Maybe the run will falter then. But it's anyone's guess. If it fall below £22 75 I may top up before next Thursday.

I read with interest the latest broker ratings for shell. Well one predicts £27.50. can't see that anytime soon. Maybe later next year when things in trump/China tiff calm down. Middle East calms down. & people realise there's no Brexit.
As for the other broker rating, £32. More chance of Brexit. I didn't know Boris was a broker. Let's face it their both full of crap. Get real.

You may get somewhere near there before results on the 31st. It's a very difficult time to call the markets over the last 3 months & the upcoming 3 months. I'd say as hard as at any time over the last 10 years. Even if Boris gets a deal, the chance of it getting through parliament is fat & slim, + slims let town. If I buy in I know if will go down so trying to get in as low as possible so have more shares , so more dividend.

Yes , the more shares you buy of course your Divi return increases. Only problem with playing behind the line is if share price keeps retreating you soon realize you paper loss is not nearly covered by dividend money, as I've found out to my cost with various other shares , I E , Vodafone . As for shareholders returns in 2021, I think that's just to far off to say if that will be forthcoming. Again ask Vodafone shareholders who were told the dividend would hopefully rise , only for it to be slashed. In the c e o world talks cheap.remember 17 million were promised Brexit nearly 3 years ago. Talks cheap.

At least things are looking better than 3 months ago. Let's see how upcoming market update is received & the divided outlook. With the no deal Brexit the certainty it always was gonna be & so many macro problems, trump, trump China trade wars. Turkey Syria, etc etc . It's very difficult now to call how the markets will react. The no deal Brexit can will no doubt be kicked further down the road before it's finally extinguished for ever. Are the footsie top brass aware of that. Hell yes, anyone with a brain cell must know that, but they will use it to their advantage, no doubt. Imo. Feel free to disagree. May get below £22 now before results if you fancy taking a punt. How results are judged by the markets is anyone's guess. Don't like comparing other oil majors, as total have just had decent update & BP 3 months ago rocketed up only for shell to plummet 2 days later. If the no deal Brexit & results go down badly could go sub _20. Time will tell or will fortune favour the brave. If you buy in the next 25 days or thereabouts you'll get the next dividend in December. It really is a flip of a coin as to how to play it with all the macro problems at present. Will wait till 30 the October till make my own mind up.

Hi, personally I recall saying the day after the electorate voted to leave the EU there was no chance of it occurring , much to the amusement of people on this site. There not laughing now. . 28 months later & I see 2 chances of brexit, slim & fat. Oh btw slim as left town.
My only concern is how it will be managed by the London stock market. I suspect their part of the establishment & have known brexit will never happen & it as longed ceased being a concern of theirs. Call me a cynic, but that's the way I see it.
Shell has drip fed the up coming results this time after the shock of 3 months ago, so , trying to second guess the stock market is niegh on impossible. But there shouldn't be any huge surprises to make share price plummet or rise to the amounts of past results. But what do I know. One thing I've learnt is make your own disisions & stick to them & for heaven's sake ignore brokers. Their full of s!!!!e.

I may top up day before results on 31st October. Of course then everyone will know there is no Brexit, so how the stock market reacts is anyone's guess. Of course be warned if I do top up a downward spiral is niegh on a certainty of course.its like someone knows. Sods law.

I think someone at Goldman as been on the funny fags, £32. I predict it will do well to hit £27.50 by this time next year. With all the talk of recession, trade woes between China & USA & no Brexit + ongoing unrest in the middle East plus anything that can come out the blue it's a brave person to see anywhere near £32. Time will tell. 2 reasons it won't hit £32. 1, it won't, 2, I own them. Feel free to disagree.

All stock markets down in general. Taking its lead from USA. Could be a October of old, when a sell off was a near certainty.
