Perhaps if the FCA had any teeth and will to go about doing something to stop abuse, but they don't. In essence, though, shorting requires the SP to drop. Because it is allowed, shorting exists. For it to be profitable, shorters have to make interventions abioe and beyond merely placing a short. Otherwise, they are more likely to lose money. So nefarious behaviour amongst commonplace amongst shorters.
But appreciate your thoughts StarRage, they were well made and provided me with food for thought.
On a side note: a shorter once told that a short he'd placed went severely wrong and that he had to sell one of his three London houses.
