I can quite well understand why you might be concerned as to its ability to extract oil in commercial quantities, that you may need to find alternate sources of income, but not even the company are going down this route.

Police were called to a tool hire shop in Perth, WA yesterday where there was an altercation involving Ashley Gilbert of 88e. Apparently, he was in the process of securing their largest drill when things became strained as the toll shop manager quoted him the price of delivery to Alaska. Gilbert became increasingly belligerent and was led from the shop in handcuffs screaming that the costs blew his recently secured budget.

Sounds like he's trying to fill in as COO too?!

On the subject of SP drivers it would appear that OTC has gone off the boil and Oz is lukewarm. The hype-based SP drivers therefore appear also to have stalled and so it's down to plain facts and fundamentals. For now, good luck with that!

An offer for oil in the ground will take into account the cost of extraction and delivery to market and therefore location in relation to infrastructure is highly relevant.
By your corollary a resource sitting right next to TAPS will be valued exactly the same as one remote from market delivery infrastructure, as is the case here. This will simply not be the case and there will be a market discount to take into account all known costs, now or in the reasonably foreseeable the future. 30 miles of infrastructure (road and pipeline) will be one such cost.

Did you go out picking magic mushrooms on the unicorn of yours this morning?
Would that be the same CoP field on Federal Lands that was denied rights on environmental grounds by the court last week?
What is the cost of the additional 30 miles of infrastructure, assuming it will be allowed?
Where is the oil transported to, if not? Judging by your moniker, you could perhaps put a couple of barrels in the back of your 707?
Perhaps you ought to insert a bibliography at the foot of your posts to verify your sources of all of this fantastical information?

Just a few observations ;-)

It seems to me that irrespective of the latter, there are so many 'in' beyond all reasonable justification that the former often flood these 'chat' forums. This is by no means the only one.

Present a sensibly justified and argued approach and all the 'believers' will do is put their fingers over their ears. Most often this is coupled with abuse in one form or another.

Heaven help those who offer an opinion which goes against the ramping flow.

Many thanks for such a comprehensive reply. Clearly there are many moving parts, perhaps a few more than in my own property development appraisals in my day job, but the principles are all the same.

I find it extremely odd concerning and perhaps underhand that only part of the input information as to viability is provided without taking it to a conclusion. Even if not definitive, and I understand why this is the case, an outline series of sensitivity analyses would have been helpful.

I think the broad assumption of others that $6/lb is viable is extremely optimistic.

Equally, the assumption that a sale to a larger corporate will deliver scale economies, whilst possible, does not mean that it will be passed on. Hopefully at some stage there will be a bidding war for the asset at which this assumption might be tested.

A little context is required.

Look at the top of the page and it is titled share 'chat'. There is no rule which requires each contribution to be fully researched for facts, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation. If you require the contributions of others as having been fact-checked then I think you will be forever disappointed. It seems that anyone with a differing opinion is labelled a 'keyboard warrior'. For me that term would apply only to those who are being downright abusive and hiding behind the anonymity of the internet when, if said face to face would no doubt result in violence......and in some cases justifiably.

I think expectations need to be tempered for fear of constant disappointment. This forum ought to considered in the same context as a chat to your neighbour over the garden fence - do you constantly pick him/her up on the 'facts'? Are you sure it's a lovely day but that it may rain later.............?
