We have growth slowing, unemployment low but inflation high. Interest rates are at record low so traditionally central banks will raise rates to rein it in. If they do, we get a recession. If they don't, we have stagflation. Recently we have always dropped rates to counter recessions so it looks like a rock and a hard place for central banks. Are we going to have stagflation?

If yes, looks like real rates will be negative for a long time and you all know what that means for gold and real assets.....

If this happens, which looks like it could, it would be the ultimate bull case for gold.

One thing he is good at though is getting both sides to agree to borrow more money. The wheels will come off big time when the republicans refuse to raise the debt ceiling and US defaulting on its debt!

Unlikely to go to 900. 3.65% is about as much as this can rise in one day recently. You can see though this is getting more and more bullish by the day. Momentum is gathering.

In limited companies, directors effectively have no liabilities unless they acted negligently or outside the law. Often, for small companies, it is very hard to prove. Easier in public companies because they have to be audited so falsifying accounts can be proven.

POLY is in a different scenario now. There appears to be a fear of inflation causing their costs to go up but they have no power over the metal prices. They issued RNSs to this effect.

It will affect all miners and that is why GDX is down. Fresnillo is better insulated because of the way our costs are made up.

So tomorrow could provide a boost or sink gold. The thinking seems to be anything north of 800k jobs added would be bad but anything under 500k would be extremely bullish for gold.

Ben alder, I just watched that Andrew Maguire video and he is making some very bold calls. $2300 gold and $36 plus silver up to $55. If it doesn't happen by end of the year, he is really going to have egg on his face!

I hope he doesn't because I am on the same side as him but he really put his reputation on the line.

Pb, it is a good logical bearish view from you. I always pay attention t9 alternative views. I am bullish because i am invested here but i know nothing goes up in a straight line. I am just guessing as long as real rates are negative, gold will be fine but will really flourish when inflation start hurting earnings of corporations and nothing else is sensible to hold

Gold seems to be chomping at the bit for a run up.... US seems to be slowing and it would be a mistake to taper into a slowing economy. Bodes well....

I can't see Feds raising rates in a big way because it would destroy their balance sheet. They would go bust and USD would tank. Either way, all that money printing and stimulus will come to bite them in the backside.

Gold is up despite dollar up and yield down. That is definitely something that is not suppose to happen. The inflation story is increasingly being bought and earnings will be depressed going forward with covid and higher costs.....

US is basically trying to pay for their infrastructure with printed money but no one is capable of causing their bluff because we denominate just about every asset in USD so we need to buy USD if we want to trade. The viability of this will be brought into question when investors finally refuse to buy US bonds at the current yield. A standoff will occur. Collapse would then happen in months. At the moment, US bonds are still the highest yielding and most liquid amongst major economies.

Yes, it was with the sold aim of taking out the stops causing a collapse in gold price. The traders probably have some visibility of major stops to execute that raid.
