A lot of words there. The message for me is the straight-forward one of allowing dividends to be reinvested and adding at some point if possible. Everything, more or less, is down as people prefer cash. It’s an understandable reaction to war.

Odd as it may seem there's a resource issue with auditing firms. In the good old days an aspiring graduate would pitch up to the likes of PWC, get his/her chartered accountancy qualification after several years grind on company audits and exams, then go off to work for a company finance department. All changed as companies are training people themselves. So aspiring accountants can get straight into companies and avoid silly hours ticking boxes in, say, Slough. Audit firms are struggling to get bodies in. Plus there's increased risks of getting sued these days so its not as an attractive world any more for the brightest. That's my ten penn'orth.

He will probably be released at the end of the season. Choices have consequences.

I had all three jabs and take the view that I will remain cautious such as avoiding crowds. I feel our govt policy on easing restrictions is right. People who for their own reasons won’t get a jab are the ones at greatest risk but that is their problem, not mine, except that they will fill up NHS beds when we need them for people who have other medical needs.

I would categorise the govt’s economic policy over the last couple of years as social democratic/ Keynesian in the way money has been thrown at supporting firms, people and public services. Not your average Tory govt but necessary and credit from me for that. Once the public finances get back in shape taxes will come down in populist measures designed to win the next election.

Who says shareholders are owed anything? We will get our dividends soon enough.

You are right, not much interest, in trading at least, with the markets looking at bigger or newsier beasts. But the numbers look very good. I would like to think the SP has further north to go from here in the run up to the half year results on 1 March.
