Very likely the fund which wsl bought into was trading at a discount to bytedance valuation on the purchase.

It’s not overly uncommon to have a short open of over 100% - many times it’s an illegal practice but still happens.

we had one on aim years ago that must have been well over 200% of the shares... Short squeezes in general are also not overly uncommon - what seems to be uncommon is Reddit posters awareness of them.

If they get £10/20/30m payout it will go to the market value equivalent irrelevant of if it is 5p or 15p

There is new management & the company are dealing with a new government- both of these can be seen as a positive.

It all comes down to if they can negotiate favourable terms or if they have to take it to court...
