This was one of my first punts aswell, unfortunately three years ago, when the price was over 6,000. So it has a long way to go yet.
I always worry when Motley Fool recommends something.
Decided to average down, at close of play today, based on the theory that it 'surely' will start an upward trend from next week. Would have done this last week and am now glad I dithered too much. Knowing my form, this will lose more ground, now I've bought in.
"What happened?" A very good question. This has been free-falling since the last results were published, weeks back. Strangely, the results were positive.
Quite agree. Wombles are lovely, fluffy creatures, that would do no harm to anyone.
Quite right DD77 ,my mistake, (apologies). I think I got mixed up with the speculation at the time that once Shell withdrew, so would the other major backer. Lots of doomsayers came out, for something that never happened.
Good to see another major airline (ANA) in the consortium, though interesting that it's not JAL, since the commercial test flight was on that airline.
An interesting and sudden rise..... anyone know why?
I agree Jamesp21, one of the best bits of advice I ever got from a BB, was don't do anything in the first hour. After 9am you have a better idea. It is difficult to follow sometimes, as the whole day's uplift can take place in that hour. However, I'd have been burnt more times than I'd have gained from it, had I not learnt to sit tight.
I'm as surprised as you. A little tick up has happened, but as I read the RNS I was expecting a bigger SP lift. I wonder if VLS just fell off the radar for a lot of people, when the Shell/BA withdrawl happened. The last time this really raised was when VLS got a tacit government mention.
Here's hoping that when people open their inboxes later and read/think through this, it will drift up in the right direction. If nothing else, I for one have a lot more confidence now.
Uh oh. That's generally the kiss of death to a share, when Motley Fool recommends it.
I'd agree Ross, about not averaging down at the moment. With a small top up it won't greatly affect your average share price, purely going by the figures you quoted it might bring the £1.18 down to about £1.13, which isn't a significant gain to gamble on, while we don't know what is going to happen to the trend. Lots of shares at the moment, (and especially mining companies), seem to be on a slow downward slide. Wait until there is a more solid turn around from the market in general. A loss is only a paper loss, meaning you only loose out if you sell while you are underwater. If you don't need the cash at the moment, there is no harm in just holding. I would certainly recommend that you use the interim waiting time to think carefully about a greater diversification of shares in the future. All the best.
Well, someone has to say it.
This has happened to so many shares recently. Great results followed by a drop in share price. I don't pretend to understand it.
I haven't got mine yet.... still waiting on last weeks divdend.
Ah! That's dislodged it.
I wonder why my earlier post, from 9:30, hasn't been put up, while it shows in the chat tally????
If I know my luck, now that I've just sold out, I predict this will fly, (you can thank me later). I think the PMI move is a statement of intent to dissuade Carlyle from continuing. I might have gambled on them coming back, if their counter offer to PMI's 150, hadn't been the weedy 5p above. I wanted a display of more commitment, though I understand they don't want to offer more than they have to. Good luck from here for everyone else - I shall torture myself by still keeping up with events and SP, but I will try and convince myself I'm happy with profit.
Really interesting move, like watching a game of chess. Though as a share holder, it makes it more of a guessing game.
Halifax used to always be on the day, but lately several are delayed. Still nothing from the latest divided.
I wonder if there might be a chance that Carlyle will decide not to proceed, presuming PMI will just keep topping whatever they put up?
