Is the dividend cut a sign of short term caution in the current uncertainty, or long term reduction in returns?

The main dividend is increased, but the special dividend is reduced. Thus, the overall total is less this year.

Yeah, I'm the same. I like the idea posted previously of retaining 1 share, in order to make a point, as it then has to still be administrated - I suppose. I retained Hurricane shares (now Prax) that transfered to 'deferred consideration units' and thus effectively seem difficult/impossible to trade.

Me too, with Halifax, usually pretty good, but 2 working days now and no SLP dividend.

Wow! The only one of my shares that goes ex-div today and hasn't dropped dramatically.

Thank you both for your reply, I wonder if you have misunderstood the motivation behind the original post, though I agree it does seem ambiguous, largely due to my rather formal written style. If it came across as a bit aloof, it was not intended as such, hence your ill meant responses are equally out of place.

"If you read the board...", believe it or not, I had thought of this, but having not found this topic specifically mentioned, thought it valid to raise, but thank you Just-Another-bot for taking the time to state the bleeding obvious.

If the intent behind my post was muddled, let me attempt to clarify; I was proffering the question, (rather than making a statement), as to whether anyone could enlighten me how the mind-set of the region plays a part in solutions and to what extent?

Any constructive/relevant answers more than welcome - isn't that the point of the BB?

I wonder if anyone on this board has experience of the middle-eastern mind-set, that needs to be factored in to a resolution? Having worked on problem solutions in North-East Asia myself, it was important to understanding that sorting technical issues was a case of.... 10% practicalities and 90% everyone saving face. I didn't jump on the bandwagon of buying shares last Friday's spike, because I wondered if the pipeline being 'ready' was only the 10% and without the other 90%, nothing is going to change.
