RE: Some decent buying today17 Dec 2023 10:34
It isn't a known yet albeit I would put substantial money on CIG knowing what the price is. Not really sure about how that fits in with treating all shareholders fairly sits but that's a different conversation that people should let the bod know about
That said there is some detail to consider and the first beling the difference between a collar and a hedge this first and most important point is that a collar is made up of two options contracts a put and simultaneous call. Whilst both a hedge and a collar limit upside price leverage, a collar is typically used when you have outsized unrealised gains.
Given the size of the contract, circa 70% of yanfolila production, it doesn't sound as if that would be a significant unrealised gain. So this could be our first queue that Kor is close to commercial production. As we know they've not been pouring at Kor but that doesn't mean they don't have concentrate. If they did then this could explain the significant unrealised gain, given that costs for this unrealised gain have already been booked.
Add to that CIG's willingness to pay a market premium, on the same basis of existing shareholders and it all starts to make sense imo.
