If you look at the shares in issue history it varies each year, for whatever reason.
Lti's figure is very precise, but he may have more accurate knowledge on this.

It's in the millions each year, that's why it's important to keep it going, and not do a buyback then stop for 4 or 5 years.

Basic, and I mean basic research shows that there's now approximately 70 Billion shares in issue, although we are in the process of a buyback.
If the share count was at say past levels there is no reason why the SP couldn't be where it was.
Anyway enough from me, I'm about to pour a cold beer and sit in the garden.

Like any share it all depends on entry point.
If you were brave enough to have bought Lloyds at the 2020 lows when the dividend was cancelled (postponed!) Then you could POTENTIALLY sit back fir the next 10 years chilled.
If you bought a few years ago at 80p+ it's not good.
But this applies to any share.

No good hitting the likes of BP with a so called "windfall tax" BP don't set the oil and gas prices, OPEC + Russia do that by agreeing supply.
Oil companies ( AND mining!) Plan and invest years in advance and a lot of this investment is based upon stable environments, taxation etc, you cannot suddenly change it to suit yourself.
Also we're do you draw the line HSBC make plenty of profit?
The problem here is SUCCESSIVE governments NOT investing to secure our energy future, its alright saying let's go green but whilst virtually every household has gas boilers why oh why aren't we sourcing our own gas?
Instead of building HS2 we should have spent that money supplying the people of this country with its own discounted gas supply.
Anyway now we have all these bloomin wind turbines and my energy supplier saying I have 100% green electricity WHY has my price doubled?

Cannot see any American oil company putting a bid in for BP either, but we will see!

If they KEEP buying back, every year the SP will increase in line with the reduction in share count.
So assuming nothing else changes if they buy back 20% of the shares in issue the SP SHOULD rise by 20%
Buybacks fail to work when they buy some back and then don't do it again but in the meantime issue extra shares for bonuses or pension contributions, so back to square one!

No idea of your personal circumstances but my advice to you would be,
Pay off debt / mortgage.
Do NOT borrow money.
If you have anything left invest in ftse100 dividend paying companies who could also show some capital growth.
Then just get on and enjoy your life!

I don't take "advice" from these boards, they are just another tool to further your research / knowledge and over time you learn who are the "numptys" and who are worth listening to.
I lost money early on in life through a pension I had no control over and since then I have carried out my own investments.
With proper research (and a bit of luck) you can buy and find those companies who multi bag and offer great dividend yields.

History is littered with people who have done just that and lost plenty.
Neil Woodford was once the darling of investing, not many people speaking highly of him now, and there's others, Bernie Madoff etc.
Trust no one except yourself as far as money is concerned!

Probably because of people "trading", a lot of people set a figure in their mind at which they'll sell at, 400p being the case at the moment.
It could be any figure but you tend to get the SP bouncing around certain figures, say 4, 4.5, 5 and so on.
As long as the demand is there the SP should hold firm, the May results are not that far away now!

I've just read something on Google that said that some of the high capacity charges are 69p per Kwh!
Now that might be well out of date but with some of these larger EV's doing less than 2 miles per Kwh that's 35p per mile!

I'd be surprised if you are getting electricity at 15p per Kwh at home, you will most definitely NOT paying that at a fuel station in London!
Not sure what it will be but I've heard rumours some work out no cheaper than running a petrol car.
Can anyone with an EV confirm the cost of a charge either in London or on a motorway please? Cost of charge and expected range would be great.
And as another poster has said what do you do for the minimum of 45/60 minutes you are there?
Buy a high profit coffee and sandwich were normally you'd just top up with fuel and go.
