You will probably know about the Pre-Production Sweet Spot - namely the 2 years running up to first metal production. This period is when experienced investors begin their investment into a mining Company. I wonder if we are at that point now.

Silver constitutes a fair proportion of ADT1s asset. The outlook for silver as an industrial metal is forecast to grow rapidly next few years and fascinating to see why. Apart from the usual green projects especially solar there is even 500 ozs silver in certain missiles which, if used, is irrecoverable. On a pleasanter note smartphone silver content is too expensive to recover so again gets lost.

Good management, good resource, good jurisdiction, excellent future pricing power. Patience is key but all boxes ticked for me. A few pence here or there is meaningless. I await an SP starting with £ sign.

American markets higher on little volume from retail investors. Institutions predominantly holding or selling. IMO US markets due to crash this year hence rise in metals as so-called safe-havens. All the indicators I watch also indicate the UK will follow US down regardless of Hunt Hype.

Thanks fog, I tried to explain why buybacks are called 'financial engineering' benefitting BODs at the expense of investors. Without any work they raise EPS and collect their bonuses. If you believe buybacks increase SP then it should be way north of here. DYOR

Have been in BP fir several decades but sold out at £5.10 recently because i can beat the divi yield easily with no risk and I have no faith in BOD. Not a whinger just a disillusioned once LTH who's finally fed up with BOD bonuses while their investors pick up the tab. Do the maths on buybacks over the years v SP. Open your mind.

Do the maths on buybacks. They benefit the BOD by increasing the EPS even when the Company makes no extra revenue. SP drops but directors receive bonuses for rise in EPS - same revenue fewer shares = increase in EPS. They benefit, you don't. Give higher dividends, doesn't improve Company but it's money in your pocket not theirs.

The near term future for metals is all about Copper for the electrification we know about and the massive new demand from the AI newcomers. AAL has probably the twi best copper mines in the World and it is easier/quicker to acquire mines rather than explore/develop them -as you all know. That makes AAL a prime target. The Board of AAL must have been woken up after years of coasting along by BHPs approach which was never going to succeed since it would cost AAL perhaps $2bn dollars just to demerge the bits BHP don't want. AAL should now realise they must pull their finger out and increase valuation of their widespread, enormous assets and keep investors onside.

An example, today, of why I distrust most of the financial gurus who strut their stuff everywhere. Yesterday, reports all over the media stating the UK now 'out of recession'. Pull the other one. Today we learn that joblessness still rising and those economically inactive still rising. This mirrors the position in the US and their economy will affect all western economies. US earnings last week were very poor with even Starbucks taking a dive as ordinary folk cut back. Do your own research is the best advice I can give. Don't believe the myriad voices working on Wall Street or any other Financial centre whose job depends on 'keep going, everything is rosy'.

IMO the Board of AAL would be more receptive of an all-cash offer without the uncertainty of large demergers and stock offers. Overlaying this is the macro uncertainty of recession in the USA leading to a global downturn in commodity prices etc etc and a dive in market caps. The latter, I believe, is the reason that no competing bids have emerged when if the future is great then the price of metal commodities is future-proofed. The macro picture portrayed reflects recent action by all the usual suspects - Buffett. Zuckerberg, Bezos, Gates etc who have cashed shedloads of shares.

It would be advisable to purchase shares now if government plans to offer shares based on present holdings. That might explain recent large purchases by those with a better 'insider' handle on things than I have. We'll soon see how this plays out.

As a contrarian I don't always believe the narrative from governments and central banks. Like many, I hope, was not fooled by 'transitory inflation' etc. I am presently in the Warren Buffett camp with capital on the sidelines awaiting market correction. Aviva and many other sti ks are intrinsically good but virtually all stocks suffer in a downturn. US debt is unsustainable and I believe the UK is similar. Am I hoping for a downturn - No but do I expect one - Yes. How soon? Nobody could answer that but on a macro level it appears near term imo (I am a contrarian so apologies to Andrew Bailey who is always right?)

On Wednesday was unable to buy 1000 shares at 26.50 even when price hit that level. Can find no reason from aj bell. Odd.

Sold out after update earlier as unimpressed. Share buybacks are known as 'financial engineering' since they can improve EPS without increasing cash but EPS often affects directors remuneration - looks good on paper. Overall uninspiring which is a pity since we have so few large cap stocks on lse cf US.

Market would know who is buying large quantities of shares as those would have to notified by results when the various thresholds reached.

You can't go bust by banking a profit and many will be in that position. On the other hand holding for the agreed £6.20 (depending on your guess at future fx rates) will return a 3.3% increase based on current SP. Meanwhile there remains the albeit low probability of an increased bid. Outside chance is that present offer will not go through and SP will dive - doesn't concern me since I would expect DT to grow much higher soonish. I know what I will do but you literally pays yer money takes yer choice.

JP Morgan, for one, cast doubt on pound strengthening but, in any case, if confident that pound/dollar rate will rise to 1.27 etc then best bet would be to trade that guess on the market.
