It is interesting that although the Nazis seized power in Germany in 1933 Mussolinis facists had already had 10 years of power in Italy at that time. Today there are still Mussolinis in parliamwent whereas the surviving 5 family members of HItler have vowed not to haverchildren and prolongue the blood line.

The Nazis were actually an extreme left wing party National Socialists. I am not advocating facism or anti democratic. What I like is the conservative party of Disraeli, Peel, Thatcher etc. Proper right wing tories not centre right. So beloved of our European friends at one time. The conservatives have not been even slightly right wing since Thatcher. As a member of the Monday CluB time it is distressing to see. On economics even the UKIP was NOT RIGHT WING. About time we had one, I might join.

Historically UK fuel prices like railway tickets have been amongst the most expensive in the world. But now Italy has overtaken since they piled on special taxes I think about 18 months ago. But unlike the UK where petrol and diesel are close together in Italy diesel is 20 cents per litre less

I agree with you. Rates are artificially low. However, margins between borrowing and lending are much the same whether base rate is one or ten per cent. E Viking I don't do targets but should be disappointed if rbs is not good for 50 per cent over 24 months. I still am wary of Barclay. LLoyds over the long term is a steal.

I do not like the look of HSBC and nor do some of the pundits. The best recovery one I think is RBS

Cant imagine a takeover of Barclays would be allowed. TSB had to cast off several hundred branches. I do not agree anyway as Barclays has many faults including poor corporate governance the man who tried to find the whistle blower is still there. Apart from Barclays being well over valued I do not think Lloyds especially cheap especially following the rise since January. Remember how one of the Remoaners thought Lloyds going down the pan. It needs a Brian Pitman to inject some growth reintroduce proper lending to SME and not drive such clients into the arms of 1PM etc,I would say Lloyds is fair vauie. Still a better bet than many and Brexit despite that corporate man will in fact be great for British Banks. Remember they all pass the stress test which is more than many European banks.

Worth comparing. Barclays yield is only 2.66% and pe over 18. They are not in good shape and over valued. Think Lloyds wins hands down. But not cheap enough. at the moment.

Surely this is a corporate post sounds like Mike Carnage on a bad day. Why would a Hard Brexit (what is that?) negatively impact shareholders. Lloyds has few overseas risks, the pound is quite strong against the euro and indeed the greenback on an historic basis. Foreign banks have not fled the city. Our economy is stronger than most EU ones. The main problem is our debt common to many countries even China. A ridiculously pessimistic view like those who swore the economy would collapse just voting for Brexit.

What a very strange comment indeed. It is not the UK which has an addiction to low interest rates. It is world wide but not universal. eg USA are still almost as low, EU is actually in negative interest territory.

In Italy food prices quite a bit below UK except milk but we do not pay our farmers enough for this commodity. A lot is bought locally and is indeed locally produced. Don't have to worry about salmonella when making the tiramisu.
