Favourable article on Interactive Investor yesterday headed : "Hornby and Stanley Gibbons: Old-school investing makes comeback" - just needs some reasonable coverage in the papers over the weekend to generate more interest in the stock.

Just bought some SGI as a long term punt - They have a good reputation amongst collectors like myself & as the Chairman Harry Wilson said: “While most of the legacy issues are behind us, we have not become complacent and recognise that there is still a lot to do to rebuild trust from our clients and the market.”

I kind of agree with JBThisle in a way - why not change daily pedestrian postal deliveries to say every other day or less (unless the remitter pays a suitable premium) - freeing up time for the workforce to concentrate on parcel deliveries & compete with Hermes on price - the infrastruture is already in place with RM depots/Post Offices/Workforce & vans etc.

Yes I agree Ross Mc takes one for the team nearing departure to give the homegrown Ms Rose the chance to blossom - It would be interesting to hear her own thoughts & possible input to the 2008 Rights Issue Prostectus & the subsequent "settlement" ?

I am a long term holder & remember it going to 12p pre consolidation around 2008 so equiv of circa £1.20 now. Not much improvement over 11 years! Its main problem is still the layers & layers of expensive "management" employed within each of its many sectors & none of the bod wishes to tackle that thorn. Still early days for Ms Rose maybe she will have an impact we will see.

Well i just like the Metro product - bought at 1.98 will sell at 3.00 & buy .........

I am not an analysis of stats/ratios etc I just look at the real world - At the end of the day the product is right for the current market - a few stores in the right places opening 7 days a week, perfectly functioning on-line platform with little high profile "ivory towers" to maintain (Alison of RBS take note!)

Just joined this site after purchasing some Metro @ 1.98 this morning - why? Because I see Metro as the only "real" challenger out there - they have a few smart outlets where required, can produce a card for you in minutes and will undoubtedly benefit in due course from the Alternative Remedies Package that RBS is required to undertake under the State Aid commitment to promote competition in the UK SME banking market (as long as Metro correctly categorise from now on!).
