I suspect bunging money around Botswana over the past few years may well have produced a PPA for 10Mw plus funding at an uneconomic interest rate , but TG is above that! A clear statement that we are no longer aCBM and Solar project was very welcome. After the JCB video it is inevitable imho that the combustion engine powered by hydrogen has a future. It might not immediate but once the realisation that electrically powered cars are a source of scrap metal and battery waste that is a huge problem the longevity of the diesel engine will be very attractive albeit with hydrogen replacing diesel.

I proposed that Mamba and Lesedi could be run independently, and Tlou are considering that logic, is it any wonder

(Ecofin Agency) - In Botswana, Tlou Energy on Tuesday announced that it has renewed its agreement with General Electric and IK Holdings for the supply of gas-to-power solution for the country.

The African-focused company said the deal signifies that Tlou and its partners will share infrastructure and technical support.

Tlou has been given the go-ahead by the government of Botswana to discuss the gas supply, construction and operation of the 50MW power generation facility the partners plan to construct.

The partners also plan to supply gas to the existing 90MW Orapa power station operated by state-owned Botswana Power Corporation, Energy Voice reports.

The deal is to expire by November 30 and may be terminated at any time by any party, Tlou said.

In July, the government of Botswana awarded Tlou Energy and Sekaname Private Limited contracts to each develop a 50MW Coal-Bed-Methane (CBM) gas-fired power station as the country moves forward with the generation of power from natural gas.

According to Tlou Energy’s Managing Director, Gaabake Gaabake, the company was prepared to benefit from the government’s new independent guarantee of contingent resources estimated at about 3.3 trillion cubic feet.

The government plans to add about 820MW of power into the national grid from local coal-fired and solar-powered generation plants by 2020. The country intends to export the excess power generated to meet the rising regional demand amid power scarcities in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Angola and Swaziland among others.

It is very difficult to comprehend that the 2Mw PPA was actually awarded.
We have never been able to determine dates and price , and tbh the volume, so it cannot have been agreed in detail.
Have we ever seen the wording? I think it was agreed in principle (proposition) but not in principal (monitary)? I'm trying to think of the term that that implies. A Mutual something or other? A MUA , mutuual understanding agreement perhaps?

Distribution of Solar power to Serowe 100Km away provides flexibility in selling our power to either SAPP or BPC - typical TG, keeping our options open.
And that solution works for CBM or Solar!

Considering the points raised in mrmoagi’s , if we go for an immediate Solar power supply, why should we supply a Botswana domestic supply via Serowe?

If there are towns in the Central District nr Lesedi without power, and are on BOC’s “todo” list , would it not make sense for Tlou (or others) to build a substation for each town and have BPC distribute the power around the town?

Why have power sent up to Serowe only to send it back towards where it came from? I say BPC but a town may set up its own distributor maybe. Potential danger of not getting paid there - but I suppose ww could turn their supply off?

I haven’t thought this through - the Serowe method is ready-made to make use of the power. The lead time for the poles and wires is probably less than the lead time to power up towns from scratch?

For those of you who are more interested in Poppy that what have to say about Tlou, I have good news.
I changed her diet, so she now has sardines and a few more bran flakes then before and she seems to be fine. Took her to the River Stour yesterday so she could cool down - the local rec does not have water and she is most certainly a water loving dog.

For her main mealshe now has tinned dog meat, mixer biscuits and complete dry food without bran flakes.
Nothing regurgitated since! From the appearance, it seems likely to be bile, a ywllow/green liquid that help with digestion, and is regurgitated rather than the contents of the stomach which is classed as vomitting! It could have been the heat, and she has been OK on the previous regime foodwise, but rarely scoffed the lot in one sitting in the evening or the morning. She is now which is how it should be!

The lack of predictions on the August sp , suggests the obvious, most of us expect no change in the quarterly report regarding CBM core business. Hydrogen could bring some positives for me and MM, and Solar will be part of the Hydrogen news or will left up in the air : 93M miles aways :O)

There is surely going to be comment on the Tx wires/substation erection , unless it is the contractors who are responsible for the lack of progress.
If so, we might hear that Covid is suppressing the supply of poles, wires, building materials or man power.
