It really is too risky to be out of this share at the moment. Well permits/other corporate news could land at any time. Buy and hold.

Initial sell off by day traders was always inevitable with such a steep gap up on opening, sell on news etc. Expecting this to rise again once it settles down.

Ironically we have been waiting the longest (years) for the IPPC permit. So this is a BIG day for the company indeed!

Don’t you think the mood music might have already started to change with the new environment minister starting to have an effect, ie the granting of the IPPC permit... surely the appeal will be successful now that JL has gone and well permits will follow in short order.

T/O or other corporate transaction must surely be on the cards once all permits have come through.

I might be wrong, but I think it’s the offeree company (ie AST) who would have to make an announcement of a potential offer under rule 2.4 of the Takeover Code. The heavily redacted document we saw was on CAD paper, so I don’t think that’s correct? Likely a fake document IMO.

If we see very large buys this afternoon (2-5m each), then that would be very telling indeed.

Let's suppose for one moment there was some leak at the Nomad and this wasn't a fabricated document, that would amount to reasonable grounds to conclude it was CAD's actions through their Nomad's "inadequate security" which has led to the rumour and speculation on here - no need for there to be a dramatic rise in the SP either - just rumour and speculation.

This can all be before CAD has made an approach to AST. An announcement one way or the other would be required under rule 2.2 of the Takeover Code.

Just reading the Takeover Code now and it does seem like an announcement is required IMO:

An announcement is required (c) when, following an approach by or on behalf of a potential offeror to the board of the offered company, the offeree company is the subject of rumour and speculation or there is an untoward movement in its share price:

(d) when, after a potential offeror first actively considers an offer but before an approach has been made to the board of the offeree company, the offeree company is the subject of rumour and speculation or there is an upward movement in its share price and there are reasonable grounds for concluding that it is the potential offeror’s actions (whether through inadequate security or otherwise) which have led to the situation.
