Scott, I would be very surprised indeed if there was a further need to raise further funds via equity finance by the time the compressor is installed later this year. In any case, I suspect by then we’ll have the well permits, discussions already had with interested banks or takeover. All IMHO.

With the well stimulation permits in hand, the business plan becomes viable. Banks will be more willing to lend as the risk of default on a loan is lower. That’s why loans have not been sought to date.

If equity finance wasn’t sought by placings to date, the company would have gone bust long ago. That’s the unfortunate reality we’re in as I don’t think any bank would lend without the well permits. The placings have allowed the company to continue to trade and gives time for the well permits to come through.

Shareholders who hate dilution I think fail to understand the above points.

Why is dilution/further equity finance a certain thing? I would have thought the company would now be in a strong position to obtain debt finance, particularly on the back of the well permits and the current low debt-to-equity ratio on the balance sheet.

Sick of derampers throwing the D word around on here, when clearly there are other available non-dilutive funding options that the BoD can pursue.

Surely in that case this becomes a takeover target as we’ll be cheap as chips. Often that’s the only way for shareholders to see increased value on asset plays as many companies are tarnished by historical issues rather than being reappraised on the asset value in such situations:

I don’t think Colin’s salary is unreasonable in the circumstances we are in. The fruits of his work are beginning to show now (hire of John Buggenhagen, IPPC permit received, compressor on its way etc). All these things take time (and effort) and I think Colin is the best man for the job. Good things are around the corner for LTH’s.

I thought there were confidentiality agreements in place? Colin’s hands are tied anyway.

Under Article 19(11) of the Market Abuse Regulation, it’s the period of 30 calendar days before the announcement of interim results or year-end report. During a closed period a person discharging managerial responsibilities is prohibited from conducting any transactions on its own account or for the account of a third party, directly or indirectly, relating to the shares or debt instruments of the issuer or to derivatives or other financial instruments linked to them.

Certainly has been a high risk company. But slowly the pieces of the jigsaw are starting to fall in place. The next few months could see well permits granted, compressor delivered and installed, greatly increased production rates and possibly a corporate takeover/transaction. There are far worse bets on AIM IMHO.

Imagine the BoD had to do a few beauty parades via the joint-broker to secure the placing funds. Surely if AST were going to be taken over, there must be some connection with the placing. The large buys over the last two trading sessions certainly suggest they were made by an II/broker quite possibly on an agency basis. If so, it would be very interesting to learn who the principal is. I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
