Agreed good chance to take move profits elsewhere into Pan African. There’s not else to do but hold for future updates. PAF is at the bottom of a trading range and has begun to turn as gold futures head back towards the magic $3000

It reads like the “opportunity cost” due to the hedge at a lower gold price is booked as a non cash cost against profits. Factor in fewer ounces sold despite meeting production guidance and the combined effect was a depressed earnings figure. If the opportunity cost is booked as a loss then it’s similar to how depreciation functions on a balance sheet, being non cash and offset against profits.

Good timing mind you, commodities near their 12 month highs, copper is 10% higher on the month! Anybody know what current copper price $4.7 does to net debt expectations? Analysts forecasted figures working on $4 expectations still

One other added benefit of the buyback scheme is the flexibility it gives the company to reissue those shares to an interested institutional / major if they want to take a large stake in the company in the future. Ideally this would be at a significant premium to the price they pay today and would come with a minimum hold period clause. The company would make gains on disposal of their shares held adding to HEPS.

Much better paying dividends at a future date when the share price has rerated higher to better reflect the value on offer.

GDP, ALTN are decent shouts for gold focused producers making record profits, discounted valuations as they just aren’t recognised by most investors. I’d add CMCL, MTL, THX and a couple of others like AAZ, SVML and GDP

Caledonia Mining have operated in Zimbabwe for years and investors there haven’t done so badly. The generous dividend policy over the last decade has helped and they are in a good position to reap rewards with gold almost selling for $3k per ounce!

Shares in issue have risen 12 fold from 180m to 1.5bn!!

This BB is an echo chamber for desperados looking to pump the stock to claw back losses and dump before the inevitable placing. Maybe new unsuspecting buyers will stem the tide but the direction is obvious.

The pump and dump brigade are waiting for a chance to offload on the next bounce as evidenced by the reply below. The only people who could have made money here are traders buying at the bottom of a cycle and offloading on the bounce, which in every case was short lived.. definitely not a case for investors seeking capital growth. P&D plaything sure.

Oh spare me the sanctimonious breakdown of my habits. You’re deflecting HARD from the facts presented about this company’s past performance reliance on shareholder funds to keep it afloat. Shareholders which have for over a decade paid the generous salaries of the board.

Nobody in their right mind would put money in here except for a punt. If roulette is your game of choice then this may provide the entertainment you seek but you’ll doubtless lose money if you stay at the table long.
